I think he represents Holt in the Governing Council for Earth and Space. If my memory is correct, Cleatus Fane is planning to time the detonation of the kaze Nathan Alt's false tooth.

Right on both counts. Fane is UMC First Executive Assistant and speaks for Fasner in GCES sessions. He triggered the kaze attack by Alt / Imposs.

Thank you, Savor Dam!

New question: What was the name of Captain Nathan Alt's ship, around the time that Sib's family were being turned into Amnioni? :borg:

Great question!

I have absolutely no idea...unless I look for it, which is rather unsporting. Perhaps another player recalls this detail.

Damn, good one. Oly other ship name I recall off-hand was Viable Dreams but that wasn't Alt's...

As you say, Avatar, that was not Nathan Alt's ship. Viable Dreams was the human ship that Marc Vestabule was on, and Angus Thermopyle betrayed him and the rest of the people of that ship to the Amnion, surrendering them to be mutated in return for learning how to edit Bright Beauty's datacore.

A hint: the ship captained by Nathan Alt does have a name that begins with the letter, "V".

Vehemence was Captain Alt's former command.

You've GOT it, SD! That's especially impressive give that the ship's name is one of the more obscure pieces of trivia from the Gap books! 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O

Other than being Nathan Alt's former command, how else does Vehemence figure into the Gap saga?

...It was one of the first human ships to come out of the Gap to surprise pirate vessels?

That's not what I was looking for. If that happened, I don't remember it, but there definitely are other circumstances where Vehemence figures in the story.

Many UMCP vessels rotate in and out of assignments around Valdor Industrial. There's a lot going on in that system...

Might you be more specific? There are multiple correct answers to this question, but they hinge on particular relevant details.

Under Captain Alt's orders, Vehemence refused to help a ship being attacked by pirates while it was in the Massif-5 system. This refusal to protect that ship got Alt court-martialed by Donner.

(Yes, I'm guessing about the pirates. I've just got this nagging memory that Alt was a repeat offender as a captain which convinced UMCP that a court-martial had to be done.)

Sorry to be picky, but the answer involves the Vehemence after Alt was no longer in the captain's chair. Think of events taking place during the event arc of the main action of the Gap saga.

No problem; I'm liking the challenge, SD!

Perhaps it is that the Vehemence is sent by UMCP to patrol the Valdor Industrial area to relieve Punisher, which at that time was heading back to UMCP.

Correct, sir.

I'd alluded to there being other possible answers, but I won't elaborate, since it may figure in a subsequent question. ;)

Your turn to offer a puzzler.
