Request for prayers and good thoughts today. Due to a reaction to the iron supplement I was prescribed back in June, I have an abdominal hematoma which needs to be cleaned out via surgery today. Check in time for my outpatient procedure at UW is at 1:00, and is supposed to take about three hours for preop, surgery, and recovery.

Will update y'all when I can.

Good luck and good thoughts and whatnot.

Iron supplements are fun. I have chronic anemia due to various autoimmune issues, and my doctor told me to take an OTC iron supplement. Which I interpreted as 'follow the instructions on the bottle'. A month later, my red blood count is still in zombie range, and my doctor asks how much I'm taking. Then I get 'Oh no, you need to be taking 5X the recommended dosage'. How the frak was I supposed to know that? Doctors.

Oh, a change is coming, feel these doors now closing
Is there no world for tomorrow, if we wait for today?

I don't see how you could possibly be expected to know that without being told, Sorus. I hope this new dosage works great for you!

Good advice Khal and Menolly
I agree with Sky that Khaliban and Menolly gave great-sounding advice, and hope that works well for Linna.

Thank you, all!

Yesterday's estimated three hour procedure wound up taking seven and a half hours from check in to discharge. There were issues with getting the IV in; after being poked in the back of my hand five times, they brought in an ultrasound and used that to find a vein in my forearm. But even that took two tries. After that, all went well, though. Although they discharged me without means to measure the fluid my body is discarding. Hopefully, SD will be able to rectify that somehow.

I'm home and under lifting and mobility restrictions again, with two drains and another abdominal wrap. So far the pain is tolerable, and I'm hoping to avoid further medications. But, my discharge instructions want me on an acetaminophen regimen to control pain. So, I may begin that when my day begins.

In the meantime, back to sleep for now. 4:30 am is too early to start the day.

'night again!

Menolly- oh my.
IV issues are exasperating.
Oddly, I was awake and needing to get back to sleep around that same time!
(diff. time zone, though.)
Take care & may it go well with you.

Yesssssage!
GUYS!
I did (something like) what Khal said... and got that document started.
Then yesterday, I reached out to a friend whose kids are in a different school district for help.
This friend is also an eager supporter of awesome math programs that involve funky not-in-the-standard-US-curriculum math.
Some of her efforts haven't yet worked out in the context she's pushing for some of this stuff in.

So I told her about my problem.
She asked, "How can I help you? Do you want me to look at your document?"
"YES!"
She re-wrote much of it.
She made it shine!
Both her writing style and the thoughts that generated her content were WONDERFUL.
And she was GLAD to do it, of course.
My joy is full.

So, a solution came together, and I've submitted it to the school. *hopeful*

Mega-thanks to y'all at "Team KW" for the encouragement to take the first, necessary (intimidating) step(s).

It should be Wednesday. And there shouldn't be a ginormous spider somewhere in my bed.

I want a refund for this week.
