We're still using XP Pro at work. And Office 2003. Which is a lot of fun when somebody from outside the firm sends us an Office 2010 document. Just yesterday, I had to send a Powerpoint to Document Processing to get a .pptx converted to a .ppt....

Thanks, Murrin!
Mine was scheduled for Wednesday mornings at 1:00 am. Since I generally shut down every night before 1:00 am, I wonder how much slowed down this has made my laptop.
Now to try searching for the Indexer...

We upgraded to Vista at work 6 months ago, so we're a few years behind the curve, as seems to be usual in workplaces. We have IE7 (two versions behind before it was installed) and Office 2007. Couple people didn't upgrade for hardware reasons, so I've run into the .xlsx and .docx problem a few times.

At home I have a PC which was Vista when bought but included a free upgrade, so I've been on 7 for over a year.

We started with Apple IIs and progressed to some early Macs. But as we needed to replace them, we just couldn't afford the newer machines. I'm used to windows and the software for it now.

But I do love using Macs when I can, and would still like an iPad one day...

I'm thinking of buying a smartphone. The good ones are all too expensive, though. I've started considering eBay (saw an HTC Desire S on there for <£150), but I'm not sure how much to trust sales on that site.

I also have no idea if it's possible for me to keep my phone number but change what package/provider I'm on - I'm on a pay-as-you-go that I've had 5 years, and I have no idea at all what I'm being charged, so I wouldn't want to go into using a smartphone with that.

If a winner cannot be contacted or is disqualified, the Sponsor reserves the right to determine an alternate winner, in its sole discretion. Unclaimed prize(s) will not be awarded. Other restrictions may apply. All federal, state, and local taxes on the prize are the sole responsibility of the winner.

GRAND PRIZE(S): The 100 winners are also qualified for the promotion Grand Prize: (2) Premium Seats to a public performance by an artist and/or tour of your choice within the Continental US.

The Grand Prize package also includes: round-trip coach airfare for winner and one (1) guest to the city of their choice; hotel accommodations for 3 days and 2 nights; ground transportation provided at destination to be determined (total approximate retail value $2,500.00 ). I have no idea which of the listed phones I won. I guess we'll see, if it ever arrives...

"Training Thunderstorms", a line of storms that follow one after the other have been coming through this morning. Nice since we need the rain, but it will not get cooler after they are done.
