We had a big outcry in the press here Sky against the use of girls on the grid lines of F1 races and between rounds in boxing matches. The argument was that it was objectification of women and was unpleasant rather than the bit of glamorous entertainment it was projected as. There was no evidence that the girls were not there by choice or were in any sense being predated upon during their stints, but this notwithstanding the controling organisations of both sports decided to bow to the pressure and cease the practice. I have little or no opinion on this - I'm not a sports watcher - but I do find it hypocritical that the very same papers that shouted loudest against the employ of the girls are perfectly happy to see female celebrities scantily clad on the front of their own publications in order to increase circulation.

The PM has over the weekend announced a twenty billion pound cash injection into the NHS over the next few years citing the 'Brexit Dividend' as the reason she is able to do this. Welcome as the announcement is, she is being disingenuous about the source of the money, because the Brexit Dividend simply does not exist - and here's why. Firstly since the instigation of Article 51 (our announcement of our intention to leave the EU) our growth has fallen from the highest in Europe to the lowest and this fall in revenue to the Exchequer more than cancels out any payments we cease to make (if indeed we do cease) to Europe. Secondly, after withdrawal from the EU we will immediately need to finance the many areas in our own country currently funded by EU money (road building/infrastructure projects etc) which again will soak up much of the vaunted monies. So Mrs May - thank you for the NHS announcement, but be honest that in truth we will have to pay for it on top of the other demands already placed on us.

Oh .. I see .. well yes whether they hire the average Joanne or a celebrity Joanne .. there is no difference at all is there .. to their initial complaints

Yeah I think we all get a little too bent out of shape about things like this dont we? I mean its so much part of our cultural identity now .. but I am sympathetic to the overarching issues .. but just how do you in reality, address them.

Its pretty systemic and I do not impose any moral judgement in using the word "systemic" ..

So there is a lump of irregular cysts .. which is apparently common in boobies.

Stupid boobs.

So have to stay for the stabby jabbies. And it will mean another week till I get the pathology results.

The doctor is lovely

which I like .. so we had some chuckles. Trev is quite shaken .. cos hed set his mind on all being clear and us getting an early mark

The doctor chatted to him and asked you all good .. to which he replied ... NO. Hes lacking in humour atm .. which is kinda bumming me out lol

. I feel like its my job to perk him up and reassure him all will be well. LOL

But I think all will be well .. regardless

Meh .. it is what it is .. and I kinda feel positive and happy.

My moneys on .. working out

Had the biopsies and even though the results wont be available for a week .. the main cyst proved to be fluid filled not solid .. which is pretty much ... a clear. They didnt give me a clear per se .. but they were so happy and said it was a good indication.

Didn't have a chance to post this yesterday. But for those that need a "feel good" story.

This is going to kind of long - but hopefully worth your time.

My Dad is not an emotional person. My Dad is not a very social person. However, my Dad is a caring person in his own ways. PS he is in his mid 80's

When I called him for Fathers Day he told me the following story. He has been volunteering for a elementary school in Tucson Arizona for many years. He has had back problems for several (at least 10) years. He just had a extensive surgery related to his back and so I asked him if he was going to volunteer another year. He told me that was planning on stopping because of his back problems and ability to move around has been hampered. However as he told the school that he was planning to not come back they arranged two things - unknown to him.

First, they arranged all the administrators and teachers to sign a good bye jigsaw puzzle (he loves those) so that he could always see their notes after he put the puzzle together.

Second, on his last day they arranged all the kindergartners in a big line outside the exit door to applaud him for his years of effort as he left.

So he told me that because the children came from broken families (parents that are in jail or heavy drug use, etc) that he might have to go back one more year - just for the possibility of helping as many children as he could even if it was just one more years worth.

Bless you Dad. I will never know what difference you made for dozens of children in Tucson but you made a difference in mine.

And yeah 80 and volunteering is absolutely amazing and remarkable .. you should write these family stories down so your kids can tell their kids about their grandparents and great grandparents .. that is just lovely. And I love the jigsaw idea .. gong to steal that one and use it myself

Not that, heres a bad place to be when you cant sleep but I wish I were sleeping.

Odd really cos we nighted out at the pub and I had a few .. that usually makes it easier.

The Daily Express ran a headline last week, "Millions to Work Until They Drop". This concerns the black hole in people's pension arrangements that arises in peoples finances as the government draws back from its 'cradle to grave' promise; a commitment upon which workers were assured they would receive a livable income in the form of a state pension when they retired, paid for out of the NI contributions made over the course of a lifetimes work. One has to wonder how this will square with the forty percent of jobs said to be at risk over the next fifteen years as increased mechanisation and AI begins to bite big time. Sounds like a time bomb in the making to me!

Honestly, I can't see the UK government (or the people) being willing to accept the inevitable consequence of withdrawing the state pension. Namely millions of old people being unsupported. (And you guys have a lot of old people.

They still give state pension, it's just not enough to live on. Most of their promises and legislation on that count have gone toward assuring the older generation their larger pensions are locked-in and unaffected by the changes they've brought to what younger people will get. Since younger people aren't voting for them anyway...
