Update from Russ about an hour ago...

We talked with both Mom and Dad last night on the phone and they are so impressed with Mom's treatment team. Dad said that they were astonished my Mom's strength and will to beat this. It amazed them that she was so agreeable to hit back at it as hard as it has hit her. In fact, she insisted that they treat it just as agressively as it has attacked. They spent the afternoon yesterday undergoing numerous tests, and as soon as all the results are back, they are going to begin treatment. Could be as soon as tomorrow. Mom says she's ready, and that she wanted treatment to start the second the Medflight plane landed.

GO MOM!!!

She has her laptop with her, so she or Dad might pop on from time to time. Dad will be going back and forth during the next few months. Mom insisted on that.

Somehow, none of the above surprises me.
I think Furls would astonish anyone she turns her attention to.

I know that's an old song, but Mom's tenacity, strength and courage brings those words to my mind. As I leave behind my childhood and now embrace womanhood, I hope to be half the woman she is. If I can accomplish that...She blows me away.

Well, looks like the hospital servers there in Houston are blocking some websites. Mom can't get here or to hangar from there. Dad thinks it's their firewall and so forth...when he talks computer it goes right over my head...LOL!!! Ryan and Myles tried to explain it to me too, but I still didn't get it...hehehe. All I know is that she can't get here from there.

Treatment is scheduled to begin tomorrow. They want to do another MRI and CAT Scan today because tests showed a spot on her lung yesterday. They also want to take a closer look at the spot on her liver as well. That has been there all along, but she's jaundice now, which means she has too much billirubin and her liver isn't doing what it's supposed too.

She's in good spirits, altho she misses home and her babies. She wanted to know how halloween went last night, and I told her that the kids all had a great time in the Star Wars universe we created here at the house. (We always pick a theme, and have kids from HIV/AIDS familes up here for a big halloween bash, Mom insisted that we still do it even tho she wasn't going to be here.) She was happy that it all went off perfectly.

We all miss her so much.

And yet, what better time of year to begin such aggressive treatment, than this one approaching which is full of gratitude, joy and hope?

While her absence will be acutely felt at family gatherings while she is in Houston, may the upcoming season add even more positive power to uplift Furls in her fight.
