I think Allison Krause and Patty Loveless are doing a decent job of holding the genre together, somewhat...but that's another thread...

I thought I was having fun.
Some artists are inseparable from their political connotations. Which is the whole reason I didn't mention Dixie Chicks. (Dammit, I just mentioned them!)
Oh well, Matrixman was right. This kind of negative oriented thread is sure to bug someone the longer it goes on. Sorry if I hurt your feelings with the country comment. I'm sure there's plenty in my collection you wouldn't like, either.
Oh, speaking of bluegrass (I'm from Kentucky, in case you didnt' know

), I think Bela Fleck has been pushing the boundaries for decades.

true... Dewey (or Huey or Luey or whatever his name was) and Tommy had asexual voices--and usually that doesn't work, except for, maybe, Geddy Lee but that's a WHOLE 'nother debate, eh Luci?

Jack Blades. You're thinking of Jack Blades.
High Enough is a pretty rotten song.

Jack Blades sang for Styx?

Nah, Jack Blades played bass and sang for Night Ranger. Tommy Shaw still sings for Styx.

**makes the sign of the cross** No Night Ranger! No Night Ranger! (I'd rather listen to RATT, hey speaking of RATT...)

Depends. If you are lucky enough to stumble into some stuff from a small recording studio in someone's attic in the backmost West Virginia hills...now
that can be bliss.

Now we're talking.
I do not like most of the current pop-country-diva stuff, if that is what Malik is talking about. But I love bluegrass, and I love a lot of older country from artists like Johnny Cash and others from his era. Some of those old time country artists just sound more authentic than a lot of the plastic stuff coming out today, like they'd been around the block a few times and have actually experienced life.

Agreed. Video killed the country star just like it did the radio (pop) star.
Danlo, I love all of the early Allison Krauss stuff but honestly, she hasn't been bluegrass for years. Patti Loveless'
Mountain Soul CD was OUTSTANDING.
Malik, where in KY are you?

"Sussudio" by Phil Collins.... generally don't have issue until his more recent stuff, but this was WEAK.

Ohhhhh, I hate Phil Collins.
But not as much as emo.

Almost universally, I agree. But on the Genesis album right after Peter Gabriel left, he wasn't so bad. Maybe it was because he was trying to sound like Peter Garbriel (and it was a pseudo-jazz fusion album, not pop).
