I'm easy really, but I think WayFriend has a good point. After people have read FR, and before the FR dissection comes out?

(And no skipping TRS!)

no. absolutely not. has there been mention of skipping TRS??? laws no! why that's the first book!! M-O-O-N, that spells The Real Story!!

well...hmmm. this time table is frustrating. i've never been very good at timing. so i've picked the worst POSSIBLE time to want to do this it seems.

gah.

we could do TRS before FR comes out. that of course doesn't take into consideration the people that are doing Runes but hell fire and bloody damnation, i'm gettin USED to reading more than one book at a time because of school!!! and TRS is NOT what i'd call a demanding read. what do you all say?

wanna start with TRS and then hold for FR till after the first of 2008?

or would you all REALLY rather wait until LATE 2008? (yeesh)

I'm good for anything! Especially TRS (which I love, regardless of how agonizing the story is).

But, if we are to get good participation on this, we should have done this earlier or choose to do it later.

However. I don't see a problem with whetting the appetite and donig TRS over a series of months (it's fairly short) and then some many month later, after the FR storm has clamed a little, continuing...

:2c:

I'd have to make a stand here and say that TRS should be included!

Aye!

I would like to do this too, and may toss in a chapter or two, if you folk wouldn't mind. As long as it isn't a several chapter in one day read. I've got a lot on my plate to read at the moment, but I can certainly read a chapter or three a week. I'm just trying to play catch-up with several other things at the moment.

i think we should do TRS before the FR group read... and then the following books afterward. TRS is pretty self-contained, so a pause between it and FK would be alright, I think

The Runes dissection only has 3 chapters left, so it'll be complete in about a month - the last chapter posts June 14. Giving some time to finish the discussion, TRS could start around the beginning of July, which would give 3 months before FR comes out.

Hey Cagliostro...usual practice is a chapter every couple of weeks...we can speed that up a bit if there are enopugh of us so that we can fit TRS in before FR comes out.

(Where is MM? He owes me a Dune chapter over at the Hangar. ;) )

Perfect. Easy peasy. I'm definitely in then. Even though around that time, I'll probably be reading the new Harry Potter. But yeah...the first chapters of TRS will be a nice kick in the face to Harry Potter. Although, depending on how that goes, maybe not.

I used to run a Sci-Fi bookgroup when I worked at Barnes & Noble. I was the mediator, and I always tried to get discussion going. The people in the group generally wanted to say "I liked it" or "I hated it" and talk about movies. I wanted to pick the book apart. So I thought I'd challenge them with the Real Story. I think only one person read it, and everyone else said they didn't have time or hated Donaldson. Pissed me off. After reading all their crappy books (okay, not all of them were crappy) they could have at least given mine a try. Bastards. So, I dropped out a few months later and turned it over to someone else. I don't remember what I planned to say, but I did start off with "why would I choose such a thing?"

Drat. Well, it's gonna take awhile, maybe he'll change his mind before we're done.

Sorry, all. Things still aren't good. I just cant focus on analysing literature. As it is, most of my time is spent on astronomy and studying algebra and calculus.

Sorry.

Hey, Lore! Didn't realize you were right behind me there.

Sorry to hear things aren't going good - sounds like you're up to some interesting stuff. Hope you can drop in even if you don't feel up to taking on a full chapter - your expertise and opinions would be welcome and valued. :D

I'll give it a crack I spose. I've never dissected anything in my life, though!! :P
It'd take you a long time to blow up or shoot all the sheep in this country, but one diseased banana...could kill 'em all.

I didn't even know sheep ate bananas.

You know you have my support and I'll help when and if I can. I'm trying not to head off to the old dissector's graveyard but The Land, The Augery, and attempts at ASOIAF and Lord of Light have brunt me out pretty hard. (thank god Av and duchy are doing Dune, not me!) One or two dissections are a blast but alot can take it right out of you!
