I just bought the book "Lost and Philosophy". Covers various things that have happened in the first 3 seasons. Wish I found it earlier so that I could have read it before the new season started. Looks pretty interesting.

Haven't started it yet. I rarely have time to read during the work week, but am going on another trip starting tomorrow, so will probably get some reading done at the airport.

will do. the writer looks to establish the spiritual side of the show. (i skimmed the intro for you)

practical wise.

character sketches
character connections

seems a bit academic/dry.

thanks, sarge! hmmm, academic. what do you make of that? understanding the spiritual side sounds interesting though.

What sucks is that first we were down to 16 eps this season from the normal 24, but now due to the strike this season will be whittled down to a total of 8 eps! We will be missing 2/3 of LOST stories for all time. Just think of not seeing 2/3 of any other season on any other chronology driven tv show (ie 24). To me this is no small thing; if a season is like a novel, then it'd be like ripping 2/3 from a LOTR or a TCOTC novel.

the strike will never end it seems. i can only hope they add the eps somewhere.

Well, Lost is finely back tonight! Tonight it's last seasons ender. Tomorrow's first hour is the flash back from other seasons followed by a one hour premiere of season 4. Whew, now that was a dry spell...

Aww...well some "2 hour premiere" if the first hour is a damn recap. BASTARDS!

Is this true? I thought it was a "for real" two hour premiere.

Oh, about losing the 2/3 thing . . . I assumed they were going to finish up this season at some point. They know exactly how many episodes it will take to finish up the entire series. So I seriously doubt they will leave anything out. They'll just string it along longer.

1 hour and 15 minutes away for me ..now...

I will say this.. any book or treatsie explaining LOST that does not mention Andre Breton and or Surrealism..isn't gettin the show..

Season 4 will delve into false hopes..or being misled by hopeful illusions. Kinda like..being a surrealist isn't what its about.. but using the surrealist formula to get to the Truth.. Who Am I?...Is what its about. Lost remains a Surreal take on the Modern Human Condition...1 hour 10 minutes...its been along 9 months and thank god Donaldson released FR. in the middle of it...MEL
