Lord Mhoram wrote:I think the implication here is that Batman is not a force for good like Spiderman and Superman. Am I right in assuming you think so? I don't think this can be farther from the truth.
It's not Batman's fault; it's his writer's fault. But yeah, depending on the writer, he tends to be more of a vigilante than a hero. He often works within the system, like when he works with JLA, and in those situations he's one of my favorite heroes. He's also so tight with Superman in the JLA stuff, too, which I definitely prefer to his attitude in All-Star Batman, where he openly hates Superman. I just really have a problem when he's a loner on the verge of being brought in by the more altruistic heroes....the Miller run definitely sets up a future where it's neccessary, but since then several other writers have tried to cash in on Batman's vigilante image, and it just turns me off, like the Punisher almost always does.
Speaking of Dark Knight, didn't Batman orchestrate a nuclear strike on Superman to soften him up before the Kryptonite attack? The dude's nuts, I tell you!

I don't know... Zebra Batman is pretty cool.

Hey Fist, can you help me count the holes those covers just blew in Mhoram's "Greatest Willpower Ever" theory? I mean, seriously, this is the guy who almost took Superman down?

You know, I'd like to take a moment and applaud Mhoram on his restraint; not once has he asked me to delete nulls posts, even though they've pretty much ruined the thread as he intended it. With that in mind, I'd like to ask that we get back on topic here.
Here's my favorite crossover:

I've never read that. Can't miss Rude's style right off, though, eh?

I haven't read that either. I remember a crossover between Superman and Spiderman though - they faced off against Dr. Doom.

IIRC, Superman fought Hulk in that one? They fought somewhere or other before the one dAN just posted.
Damn, I can't imagine I didn't buy that if I ever saw it. I wonder if it's just been so long that I forgot.

I
am getting kinda old, after all. But Stern's stories aren't always the most exciting, even if they're almost always good and fun. Maybe this one just wasn't too memorable?

we assume that Hulk and Superman fight under a yellow sun. that this is Hulk smash. who wins?
Superman has a wider variety of powers. freeze breathe, heat vision, flying.
both can heal rather quickly. and Hulk has shown he can heal for an unlimited time.
draw. I can't see who could win if both are at their optimum.
does anyone have an argument for one or the other.
can Hulk live in space? if he needs to breathe - Superman wins.

Superman would win if he was willing to kill. He could tear Hulk's head off before Hulk saw him move. He could throw Hulk into the sun. Hulk need never touch Superman if Superman doesn't want him to. It wouldn't even be a close fight.
But Superman wants to have friendly resolutions, so he'll keep trying to calm Hulk down, and eventually get clobbered.

It's not exactly a crossover, but as far as team ups go, the Arthur Adams-drawn "substitute" Fantastic Four was about as much fun as is allowed under the Code! (Wolvie, Ghost Rider, Spidey, Mr Fixit... That was some good stuff!)

Yeah, I had fun leading the FF; more fun that the time I led the Avengers!

what team has the most power. DC - the LSH? does Marvel have anything to compare?

Didn't Marvel have a team of Gods at one point, one that became so hard to find challenges for that the book collapsed under it's own weight? (I'm thinking The Defenders, but I'm pretty sure I'm wrong.)

Marvel's Star Masters was certainly full of power. Quasar, Beta Ray Bill, and Surfer were the original three.
Heck, at times, the Avengers consisted of Thor, Iron Man, Ms. Marvel, Wonder Man, Vision, Scarlet Witch, as well as Cap, Beast, Hawkeye... tough to take down that team, eh?
Defenders core was Hulk, Surfer, and Dr. Strange. Good luck against them.
Not quite Marvel, but Dreadstar, Syzygy, and Willow are a heck of a team.

Hulk vs. Doomsday would be fun!

fist :
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantheon_(Marvel_Comics)
Achilles (Helmut) - Near-absolute invulnerability, only gamma-radiation can weaken him. Deceased.
Agamemnon (Vali) - Founder. An eternally teenaged immortal descended from the Asgardian gods. Cynically builds and destroys civilizations to pass time. At one point is called Vali which suggest that he's either the son of Loki or Odin. Claims to have fathered hundreds of children.
Ajax - Vast super-strength, that increases with rage, and wears an exoskeleton which helps him move his over-muscled bulk. Simpleminded, and with an overprotective puppy-love towards Atalanta.
Adromeda - Retired oracle, and mother of Delphi.
Atalanta - Expert archer. Uses an energy-bow that projects arrows of varied strength.
Cassiopea - Stores and emits various forms of energy. Shown able to absorb and reflect even Silver Surfer-level intensity. Very energetic and affectionate.
Delphi - Oracle of the team, clairvoyance, rarely wears clothing.
Hector - Uses an energy-flail, flight.
Hulk
Jason - Known as 'The Renegade'. A ruthless master marksman, who has been able to defeat Asgardian gods.
Paris (Nathan Taylor) - Empath, strategist, sleaze.
Perseus (Scott Shannon) - Energy spear. Retired Scotsman. Deceased.
Prometheus - "Tracking-sense" workable over interstellar distances. Disfigured. Heavily armed jet-car.
Ulysses II (Walter Charles) - Former 50's biker-rebel in love with Delphi. Uses an energy-sword and -shield.
Ulysses I - Ulysses's predecessor. He was murdered by Achilles under the orders of Agamemnon once Ulysses began questioning Agamemnon's actions.
they seem tough, but I think many of the groups mentioned could beat them. the Imperial Guard could beat them.
