Cail mentioned Radiohead.

I'm the same way.

My friends with the same musical taste as me ALL like Radiohead.

One of them, while looking through my CD collection one day, actually noticed that I don't ave any of their albums.
I like a few of their songs, but not enough to buy anything by them.

Some interesting names mentioned here. The hard part is... bands I feel I "should" like but don't, vs bands I just don't really like much (Nirvana for example). I like a few of their songs, but basically don't care that I don't like the rest of it. Or Radiohead... a few songs are good, but I don't feel like I'm missing the boat.

Maybe I just don't think that way. I love some bands, love or like lots of songs by other bands, and don't like a lot of other stuff. I still have enough music to fill my ipod

<laugh> I guess the Kinks did have some punkishness in their early stuff, but they don't make me think of the Ramones.

And Cail, I thought you were a huge U2 fan...

Oh Hell yeah, I love old U2. But as hard as I force myself to like their new stuff, I just can't.

Another performer I should like, is John Mayer...the wife just doesn't understand why I don't like his stuff, as I like a lot of stuff that sounds similar to him, but I just can't get into him,.

john mayer and fall out boy teamed to cover billie jean. can not figure why.

michael jackson. i can not understand why people ever thought he was good.

I may not approve or like his lifestyle choices,
but I still find him to be one hell of a performer.

For me, Billie Jean always evokes memories of the Motown anniversary special on t.v. where Jackson first showed the Moonwalk to the masses to that song....

Supposedly Fred Astair called Jackson after that performance and raved about his moves to that tune.

Actually, I'd like to say the same, but only with online friends that I especially share musical tastes with. They all hail OK Computer as the Sgt. Peppers of our generation. While I've never sat down and given it a listen, it just isn't the sound that does it for me.

Ah, but it's here where you have to walk the fine line betwen music that you like, and music that's good.

There's lots of Good music out there, that I don't like...hell including most of MJ's stuff; but given the history of high album sales and sold out conncerts, he obviously has talent, even if you (and I) don't like his stuff.

BonJovi..whom I cannot stand mind you...can't be comcidered crap, as they can write songs that Lots and Lots of peiople really enjoy.

People love MJ's music..or at least they used to...musically, he's very well versed; he can write a hook that stays in peoples head, and he can sing.

I can't stand opera, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that La Boheme sucks..

Lots of people enjoy WOT and Terry Brooks books...and have no idea what real fantasy is. Same with all entertainment.

Yeah, sorry, but anyone who's maintained a 25+ year career at the level of either MJ or JBJ certainly isn't crap.

drew - a friend brought us to see Toby Keith. horrible. every last minute of it. modern country falls so short. some of it may be catchy, but the kind of catchy that makes you grind your teeth after awhile.
