I clicked here just to read what you wrote Furls, and I guessed right.

I talk to mine occasionally too. Thankfully they're kind enough
not to talk back though.

I keep listening but no one is talking to me.

What can I say? I'm an open book! And maybe they are talking back, you just aren't hearing them.

They may not be near you when you try to talk to them. Stephen, and the others, don't always answer me when I call to them. And it's not like I have long conversations with them. Just a word here, or a phrase there...and then they are gone again.
Sometimes, if you just let your mind empty out and sit quietly with your eyes closed, then whisper their names...they will whisper yours back.

My thoughts exactly...
...though I have never heard my own dead neither.

My butterflies come back to me dead.
Hrm...
I was talking to my grandmother the other day. I was picking blackcaps, which she and I used to do every year when I was a kid. Like then, I made blackcap pudding. (Cobbler, really, but that's what she called it. She said her father used to call berries "sauce." Just a bowl of blueberries, or raspberries, or whatever. "Let's have sauce.") She's the only person of any importance in my life who's died, and I've only spoken to her a few times since. (12 years ago.) She's never responded.
Neither have Stephen or Isaiah, btw!

I have a question for you all...
Have you ever been sitting quietly or maybe lying in bed and suddenly hear your name called? And then thinking you were dreaming and just shrug it off? If so, that is them.

Or, have you ever felt a whisper of a touch to your face, a tingling in your palm, a pat to the top of your head? That may be them too.
They are trying to get your attention.
And Eric, try just calling out Stephen and Isaiah's names, they may just respond by saying yours, or they may just bop you on the head. Hehehehehehe...

The closest I've come to what you're describing is to be thinking of something or other, and it seems that I actually hear one word of my thoughts. If I'm thinking, say, "It sure is hot tonight!", maybe "sure" will seem to be spoken by someone else. This kind of thing used to happen somewhat frequently, but not for many years now. It was never anything I wasn't thinking, though.
And yes, I've called out Stephen and Isaiah's names.

I'll give them a nudge in your direction.
Altho, Isaiah has been quiet for a long time. I've not "heard" or "felt" him for a few months now. He must be busy with something. Stephen, on the other hand, seems to be talking my ear off lately. And I could have sworn I saw him standing just in front of the treeline the other night, but when I went to the door to go out to him, he had already gone.
Maybe, someone was putting the thoughts in your head at the time you heard the "voice" speak the words?

I think I prefer it that way

Sure, but I don't shrug it off, I always ask "what?" and it tails off into random muttering. I usually attribute it to random neurons firing.
