sorta reminds me of the main character in the film, Abyss; he's divorced yet still wears his ring and at one point takes it off and throws it into a toilet - he then retrieves it. If he hadn't it would never save his lfe by stopping a door opening.
So the moral of the story is: never take your wedding ring off!

I've seen the Abyss many times and that scene is great. (I never take my white gold wedding ring off.) I love that Ed Harris has to go through the rest of the film with a blue hand from the toilet. HAH!

Covenant's lucky break was getting chosen by the Creator. It gave him a reason to go on living, as opposed to just existing. Unfortunately, it came with a high price, but I think it was worth it.

Yeah it is funny, Cromas. They must have painted Harris' hand every day of shooting!

geesh i watched the end of that movie last night .. and still havent seen the thing the whole way through .. and it looks like a great flick to boot
i never noticed any blue hand but .. a couple of blue lips .. but no blue hand
TC's lucky break - is an irony .. i definately think obstinately wearing his wedding band .. was a lucky break for him .. but also represented great sadness and loss - representative of his not so lucky recent past
and being selected by the creator .. was on one level a lucky break and on another .. maybe not all that lucky for TC .. especially if he had anything to do with his contracting leperosy ..
but *shrugs* thats never been proven

LOL

I know what TC's most unlucky break was. Leprosy. But that is pretty obvious.

I agree. Though no parents, vertigo, bad attitude, and unbelief are pretty bad, too. But hey, at least he had his pen knife.

That whole being allergic to horses and receiving anti-venin seemed to be a rather unlucky event.
Maybe Covenant was just lucky Joan was paying attention. Who knows what else he could have lost.

Perhaps having a book on the best sellers list was his TC's downfall.

Yeah. What now? Leprosy? A mind altering delusion? I've got a white gold wedding band and the right initials. "chews his fingernails"

I'd wait until I sold my first book before fretting any. Talk about over-optimistic....

I believe TC lucky break was all of his self control over the White Gold. I know he did have help once or twice but still.. that control made him, in the end, understand the essence of the White Gold, so he could confront Lord Foul.... and yes I believe Lena was Fouls doing... cause without her help, TC wouldn't of made it out of Kevin's Watch (though I would probobley think that TC would of considered it a lucky break). I hope this makes sence. I have been up all night reading these topics and my brain might be a little fuzzy...

Chosen, I think Covenant's control had more to do with, first his ignorance of it, and second just plain stamina; than it did with "luck". In the end he actually did control it, by holding it back after Foul became corpreal, imprisoning him instead of killing him, while the Dead Lords and Foamfollower laughed as he diminished. I dont' call that "luck", that was pure strength of will.
"I'm a leper, Foul, I can stand anything." Love that line.
