Had an idea about convenience of role-play to the other - what if the role-players and those who just do that from time to time make something like a warning - in the signatures or something like that, maybe something like the existing kw organisations, THOOOTP, OPAL, LA THOOLAH etc., a role-players organization or something.
Then people will see who they're dealing with) And it will ease those who don't really want to role-play, or for others to do it, because it may bring confusion.

In the past, Effy, confusion has been half the fun (for the role-players, if not for the general populace....).

Than what is the problem?
Or is it that confusion is a problem, but lack of confusion is a problem?)

Hi! I'm just a naughty school girl who got mud on her school uniform! I've been a bad girl and ought to be punished! Well, I better go take a shower now! I hope I'm done by the time the pizza delivery boy and the cable repair man gets here!!

There you go, Effaeldm.

What has typically happened in the past is that a Watcher will set up a new account with a different name and avatar, and post as that new Watcher. We have several Watchers who do this. One of them is Fist & Faith, who (for example) is Onos T'oolan in the Steven Erikson forum.
Dread Poet Jethro is an alt of a different Watcher.
Juan Valdez is an alt of still another Watcher.
I gather that half the fun, for these folks, is to see how long it takes for others to figure out who they are. I am kind of gullible, so I always feel a little like an idiot when I find out somebody is masquerading as somebody else -- that's the annoying part for me.
If that's not the kind of role-playing you're thinking of, then I apologize for misunderstanding you.

Well, I know there were times when I first joined where I did post "in character" as Menolly of
Pern, referencing my fire lizards and the Harper Hall, et. al. Especially in the
Hopeful Riders thread when I presented myself to the Ranyhyn.

If someone puts on a corset, a garter belt etc. - that may be the role-play you mean. If that someone claims he/she is an alien prince and starts running after people with a pick axe - that's the one I mean

Not too far, but not exactly, I mean it not for confusing people into thinking those are some new people, but to take some personality and play as an actor and screenwriter at once, like the role-players with the aim at writing as their characters.
What DPJ does is more like what I'm thinking about, perhaps minus the fact he's not showing he's an alt of an existent Watcher, but that's long no secret. I don't mean it's necessary to say who exactly you are though, just warn people you're role-playing and an alt, if so. What LF does is very close as well, he's pretty much in character in many places, especially his welcoming thread) Even though staying in character everywhere is problematic with the main or only account.
I do pretty much a similar thing, ussusimiel even guessed who, or rather what kind of being I am)

Yes, I've seen and enjoyed some of those, especially since I looked back into the Hopeful Riders thread old posts)
sgt.null wrote:i just really want to play a super hero rp game.

Why not? Pick a hero or invent one, post as him. I may try to join with that, if you'd like company.

hmm... mine sounded more pleasant. But, if you're into being chased by someone with an axe, then

Well, I'm quite surprised, but of course tastes differ - or did you not see who I mean?

Sorry, I spent exactly 2 minutes total finding the pictures, cramming them in layers and lassoing some background away.

You did that one yourself? Didn't guess that, usually people don't bother to do such things, thank you)
May I ask - how about my question? I thought you'd guess who exactly I meant.

Way to go, aliantha!
How about this one?
And as for the topic here, it may be better off with samples.
I mostly had in mind something like what I've seen on the Stealthy Stories forum, it has a lot of fun role-play. Maybe a few quotes to clear up how I mean this.
Shredder on the Stealthy Stories forum wrote:Who are your five favorite characters?
1. Me. Why? Because I'm awesome.

What are your five least favorite pairings?
...
2. Fly Stockman x anyone. The last thing I want to read is mutant fly sex. Considering what flies eat, I can't picture anyone kissing Stockman. I also don't want to picture the Mary Sue's maggot babies.

I'll say this once. Not. Happening.
I refuse to waste resources on creating needless specimens, simply to see if they could be generated as females. Especially if they'd end up as the turtles mates, as they would if I let them into your hands

Your name had a temporary name? Some identity disorder issues going on there! I suggest you consult Dr. Effaldrumski. He is a renowned psycho-physicist specializing in disorders of the spirit resulting from a traumatic experience with science.

Almost nothing there) A relief to make the axe look a slight bit less flat, a gaussian blur set to one of the slightest variants to undo some of the damage the relief did, and a light effect to shine on the axe; also these three applied to everything, so the added image looks less out of place... nope, not much

That hardy has a thing to do with role-play, this is done not to avoid bans, the feel is the purpose on its own.
So, are you joining? Your suggestion about super heroes sounded interesting, do you have someone you could be in mind? Or do you want company with that? We can discuss through PM if that's more convenient.

Thanks for that one) So, Sarge, are you in for a psycho-physicist treatment?
And, Ananda, will I ever get an answer if you understood who exactly I meant with the axe in the first place?

I'm sorry, Effles, I didnt follw you at all. Care to explain? Also, unsharp mask is better than gausian blur.

At least unsharp mask
Causes far less discomfort
Than does a sharp mask
Did I not once say
Some day everyone will wear
Masks for their comfort?
