I certainly didn't mean to shame you! :) I can just see you crying every 15 minutes! Must be a great date movie! :D

I said I wasn't ashamed. ;) And if I was, it wouldn't be because I cried every quarter hour, it would be because I gushed so frothily about it!
So there. :P :) ;)

Just got back from RotK

Wow! Hooked from the first..... Smeagol's first scene was well done....

I loved the lighting of the beacons......
Spoiler
I do have to agree with MG about Shelob. While she looked very convincing, (I was squirming in my seat - I'm not a spider fan.) Shelob seemed about 1/3 smaller than I imagined.
The entire Pelanor Fields battle was awesome
Spoiler
The dead coming off the ships was in interesting touch. Although, I wish, when Aragorn dismissed the dead, the King of the Dead would have, as in the book, break his spear, bow and disolve away. I thought that would have been cool, rather than what they did, but I'm quibbling. :)
Eowyn was great!

I didn't cry, but there were a couple of scenes where I choked up a little.

I saw it last night. It was like watching the last part of what you know will be the best film of your age....
Spoiler
and I'm kind of glad that the part where Saruman went to the Shire wasn't included. After the war, those guys needed a rest!

But I ain't complainin'!!! :D :D :D ;)

Fist - The number of times you have made my day just keeps on going up.... :hnk:  ;)

No. Neither am I. I have held off getting the 4 dvd sets of the first two, so that I can get whatever fancy boxed set they sell next year. Then I'll have about 1.5 to 2 hours of unseen (by me) footage to watch next Christmas.... :)

I could have really used Damelon's broad shoulder to hide my face against during the spider scenes! Yucky! Icky! I hid my face in my hands and screetched. 8O 8O 8O

Michael Giantfriend, I couldn't agree more with your review. I was stunned at how good this movie was - as good as the other two were, this was an order of magnitude better.

I was brought to tears at least a half-dozen times. I was in a packed theatre, total strangers on both sides of me, and I don't cry in public. For this film to do this was absolutely unprecedented, and keep in mind I go to at least forty movies per year.

The acting was great, the battle-scenes the best I've ever seen in a PG-13 film, and the plot was done in a way even Tolkien would have been pleased.

Was stuff missing? Sure. Short of making the movie five hours long, that was inevitable. The only thing I really missed was the healing and budding romance of Faramir and Eowyn, but I've no doubt this will turn up in the extended DVD version.

If this movie doesn't win Best Picture, there is no justice in Hollywood. And this trilogy will stand the test of time, as one of the all-time achievements in cinema. I consider myself fortunate to have been part of the generations of fans that will get to see it as they were made.

All hail Peter Jackson and New Line!!!!! :) :) :)

Not at all, Furls. I don't expect to see it for probably a year. It takes too much time and energy to bus around the city to theaters these days. I patiently await LOTR movies at home in my living room.

See Furls u're not the only one! :D Could it be safe to say that no one in Oregon has seen it!? :P

I finally saw ROTK last night. Dang!!! I was blown away. (i hadn't in all this time read the book. I've gotten through TTT a couple of times but...) Any way it was an extra thrill not knowing what was coming next. Very Cool.

it's good to know I'm not alone. Actually, I never saw FOTR or TTT in the theater. Too much going on at the time. Just like this year. :)
