I enjoyed the film more or less, it was much better than other zombie films. It out Resident Eviled, Resident Evil.

Resident Evil was a horrible movie IMO.

This had some interesting twists to it and had a much more realistic feel.
Spoiler
I wanted the guy to make it though

Ur-Vile wrote:That film gave me nightmares! good stuff! The intro reminded me of day of the triffids. I didnt mind the ending, but what I'd like to know was the rest of the world infected? The military guys said infections were detected in France and America . . . so was the rest of the world taken out?
Quite simply, no. That's the whole point with the scene in the forest, when Cillian Murphy's character is looking up after having escaped the soldiers and he sees an airliner going overhead. The rest of the world IS still going on about its business - like he says, what are the chances of an infected going undetected on a trans-atlantic flight, or even a flight from Britain to France?

Linguistic note: if you listen carefully, you can hear that the chatter between the pilot and ground control at the end is actually in German! 8)

Any of you guys stick around after the credits for the alternative (darker) ending? I didn't, but read about it in the paper later. I didn't really want to sit through the movie again just for a few extra minutes. Maybe it'll be on the DVD.

I really enjoyed this movie too. I thought the concept was cool and the execution rocked. I was glued to the set throughout.

The DVD does have I think 3 different endings but I don't think any of them were that great.

To be honest I'm at a loss for what would have been a more satisfying end.

Any ideas?

Take care,
Matthew

At the end, when they are spelling out HELLO, but it says HELL for a bit, I thuoght that was pretty cool.

I thought it was a great film. By shooting digitally and making use of handheld cameras Danny Boyle gave the film a much more direct and real feeling than celluloid would have. The scene where the taxi is stuck in the tunnel was gripping, I can't remember a time when I've felt so tense during a film.

I don't see what was so bad about the ending, personally. I had expected Selena to recoil in horror from Jim after he killed the soldiers (especially with the way he killed the last one), and the film to make a point about becoming more of a monster than the monsters, but it didn't greatly trouble me that the three of them lived happily ever after. There has been a trend in cinema lately of killing off lots of characters and having unhappy endings, because that's supposed to be the sort of thing Hollywood doesn't do. The truth of it is that it's becoming a bit of a cliche.

I haven't seen the alternate endings, but I've got the DVD so I'll have a look at them later. I rather liked the Resident Evil movie, though 28 Days Later is a superior film. I'm a big fan of the games and I thought it was a good representation of what the origins of the T-virus might have been. True, it lacked the grittiness of the games, but it was set in a high tech research facility after all. The only thing I didn't like was Michelle Rodrigues's character, who's only purpose, it seems, was to remind us just how many times the 'good character turns into zombie' thing has been done before.

Finally saw this - the hype had built my expectations too high. Liked it up to the point where they arrived at the army base. After that it was became too predictable and cliched.

I'd rate it 3.5 out of 5.

Do you think a PM might be more effective in attracting dAN's attention?

Religious faith? damn straight! I don't beleive in god(s). Faith in you? Well, I beleive your real, but it took you long enough to notice this thread needed moving.

I moved it when I decided it was time. Your pitiful attempts at forcing me to do something had nothing to do with mt decision. Fortunately for you, Nav wanted it moved, and understood the proper channels.

The one thing I didn't like was the acting performance of the actors who played the soldiers.
