I have seen 12 of those movies...and some of them were so bad that I enjoyed them.

I don't know that The Notebook was a terrible movie, but it more struck me as run of the mill, cliche-filled made for TV movie rather than something distributed by a major movie distributor. There's far worse than that on the Lifetime channel every day...I've been subjected to a few of them from time to time...

The Notebook? Are the ladies really this silent on the issue? For what it was -- the ultimate romantic tear jerker -- I thought it was OK.

Heh...I've heard some women be not silent on it...including my wife. The ones I recall are "One of the ten best films to slash your wrists by" and
"The only thing worse than that thing would be actually having dementia, but becoming lucid whenever "The Notebook" was on." [may have been quotes of quotes, IDK, been a long time. But funny.]

That's kinda brilliant.

I'm sorry, but by the end of it I felt like I had been bludgeoned half to death with every two-bit love story cliche ever conceived. It was like ordering a hamburger, and receiving two buns, a pickle, and a packet of ketsup. I actually laughed out loud when they rowed their boat into what must have been a swan convention.....
I hate Avatar, too (the movie, not the admin); I think the main bad guy was much better in Small Soldiers.

Dan, sometimes the fair sex has a need to ventilate emotionally and evacuate excess tears. Ergo movies such as this one. Don't take it personally.

Haven't seen "The Notebook" -- or read the book, come to that. And it looks like I haven't missed anything....

Nine. Some of which were MST3K. And now I have the theme song stuck in my head.

as an unabashed fan of the cartoon series of Avatar: the Last Airbender, M. Night Shymalan's attempt to bring it to the screen easily ranks as one of the most disappointing things I've ever seen. Abominable!

Yeah, I love the cartoon, too. Korra as well. All great stuff!

ah; nice! - yes Korra was a worthy follow up to A:tLA, full of imagination and creativity (and, like the Last Airbender, Korra had more than it's share of incredibly strong female characters, both 'good' and 'evil')
and I will concede that Shymalan's effort *did* indeed look great.
but it got so much so, so wrong

I am not a fan of the Notebook, either. In fact, I throw up in my mouth a little just thinking of it.
I may have seen ten or 11 of the films on the list. But I, too, would have rather seen a list of films so bad they end up watchable, like Reefer Madness. In fact, I just saw and posted about Legend of the Red Reaper which was SO bad it was quite fun.

Here's what I said about "The Notebook," 10 years ago...
