They are hitting us over the head with it in the new spot. The latest mini-trailer is played backwards and mentions the word "time" over and over. Okay, okay, we get it--the Eye of Agamotto (or some other relic which will be featured in the film) is the Time Gem. It should be the Reality Gem, which would make sense given this film, but I am not the one who wrote screenplay.
So the Tesseract is Space and is currently in Odin's Vault...the Mind Gem is on Vision's forehead...the Aether is Power and is with the Collector in Knowhwere...while the Orb is Soul and is locked in a vault on Xandar Prime (*cough* no, it isn't--Star Lord pulled a bait-and-switch so the Guardians still have it).
Thanos already has one, which is why he wants the other five...unless it shows up in Ragnarok.
Some commenters suspect that Aether is Reality but I disagree with that assessment because Odin described it as "a destructive force of limitless power".
Oh, and in a recent interview Hugo Weaving teased that the Red Skull isn't dead and may show up again. We already knew that--he didn't die, he just opened a door and got pulled through it.

Marvel Studios is now confirming that Dr. Strange will be in the Infinity War movies alongside the Avengers, Spider-Man, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and Captain Marvel.
This never-before-attempted type of blockbuster is a mere 19 months away, having a release date of 4 May 2018.

I saw Doctor Strange yesterday. I enjoyed the film, it's fairly standard Marvel in terms of quality (not on the top tier of their stuff) but it's very interesting in terms of visual effects. It felt like it existed mostly to instroduce that world and characters to us, and as a result the villain wasn't particularly interesting (but on the plus side it's a rare Marvel film that didn't end with a fistfight between two characters of near-identical powers).

Is there a risk that Marvel are going to make the same mistake that DC have been accused of and try to introduce too many carachters too quickly if they go down that route?

Interestingly, the current season of Agents of SHIELD is using Ghost Rider and the one set of bad guys just got their hands on the Darkhold, the book of dark magic originally written by Chthon. Its pages are blank when you first look at them then the book translates its writings and shows them to you in your native language for ease of use.sgt.null wrote:I believe they are setting up Baron Mordo for a later film.
I would like to see the Dr. STrange films explore the vast number of magic users in the Marvel universe.

Saw it on Saturday--it is a refreshing movie after the general "been there done that" feel of the Avengers and Captain America, especially since Civil War was really the Avengers 2.5 movie. Visually, there hasn't been anything like it in quite a long while...but The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus comes close.
The thought didn't hit me until this morning--all those people who complained that The Ancient One was not portrayed by an elderly Asian actor didn't seem to mind that Mordo was being portrayed by a black actor. Some people simply have nothing better to worry about.
There were several critics who were concerned that this origin story reminded them too much of Iron Man--arrogant man endures personal tragedy but then goes through a transformation process to emerge as a hero on the other side. Well, duh--almost every hero story reads the same way; I guess those critics never read any Joseph Campbell.
I do have to agree with I'm Murrin--we are told that the character of Kaicillius endured some horrible tragedy, arriving on the Ancient One's doorstep as a broken man, but we don't get any other backstory than that. By the time the movie opens, he has already been consumed by his desires so all we see is a caricature of an evil villain. Then again, the story isn't about him so I guess that is okay.
There are two credit scenes, each one setting the stage for a future movie.

My son and I enjoyed it more than expected. Considering it was an origin story, and one we knew from the comics, we weren't expecting much. But it was different enough. And it was funny. Visually excellent, of course. The Cloak was great! lol

Thanks to my stupid car, I'll probably miss seeing Dr. Strange in the theater.

I'm in luck. My car runs now, and there's still a theatre playing it tomorrow.

LOL .. well it was ok. Liked Cumberpatch think he did a great job of Strange .. all in all it was good .. entertaining .. didn't like the jumping through space and time .. it was like disjointed ... I don't know exactly but .. meh!dANdeLION wrote:Thanks to my stupid car, I'll probably miss seeing Dr. Strange in the theater.

I'll do that, when something catches my eye.Hashi Lebwohl wrote:[... idle speculation among eagle-eye fans who spend their time looking at movies frame-by-frame ...]
Here's a favourite shot from the movie .. meh!

I loved Doctor Strange, and he's my favorite MCU character, followed closely by Cap.
I joined this forum because I recently started reading the first TC trilogy again after 30-some years, and now I constantly get a picture of Benedict Cumberbatch playing TC. Especially based on that scene where Strange kicks Christine out of his apartment. They are obviously different characters, but there's a thread there that keeps me coming back to his performance for the TC in my head.
I know I saw a thread here that focused on casting the TC movie, but I stopped reading it because I was afraid of spoilers (I've forgotten most of the TC story by now). Still, I think BC would be good for TC.
Oh, and Doctor Strange was the MVP of Infinity War. Just saying

I actually rewatched DS recently and I thought it improved on the second viewing, I was happy to have done so.
However, it was Harrison Ford who was always in my head reading the Chronicles. Especially when he says "Hellfire, Linden!". (Specifically, Ford as he was around the time of The Last Crusade.)
Adrien Brody and Naomi Watts, as they were in King Kong, are my casting choices now.
