In the film The Birds, my favourite character has to be ol' Mrs Bundy. She has some great lines:

Image
"There are 8,650 species of birds in the world today. It's estimated that five billion, seven hundred
and fifty million birds live in the United States alone.
The five continents of the world probably contain more than a hundred billion birds!"

It is interesting that the two parrots featured in the film are
the Rosey-faced Lovebirds Agapornis Roseicollis.

Agapornis Roseicollis being central as to why the gulls and crows
attacked the residents of Bodega Bay. Hitchcock did like his Freudian
psychological mysteries. Though my favourite shot in the movie has to
be Annie Hayworth's mailbox, and the reason why Hitchcock enlarged and
emphized her surname ... but that is of course beside the point!

I do have a fondness for chickens. Especially, Miracle Mike
the Headless Chicken. [Scientific Article]

He lived for 18 months without a head. Went off and joined the circus.
He even went to Utah State University - although his short-lived
headlessness meant he never did get his diploma.
Still, what a remarkable and tenacious bird he was.

I never met a bird I didn't like, even Marabou Storks which go out of their way to be unfriendly. If I had to pick a favorite, I guess it would be the Black-capped Chickadee. They're so friendly and inquisitive. And adorable.

We have an African Grey Parrot who was given to us some years ago by other missionaries who left Africa. He's about 20 years old. Meet George. (He is cuddly with me through the cage wire; the previous people never, ever handled him so when it has been necessary to catch him to be treated by the vet, he screams bloody murder.)
