TOM C wrote:I should have made a section about favorite comic artist. I see by your collection, AG that you might have an affinity toward John Byrne. Byrne has forever been my favorite comic artist. Especially when he was younger. His X-Men run is fantastic. His run in Avengers is my all time favorite Byrne run especially the 3-issue story with Count Nefaria. My all time favorite single Byrne issue is his Marvel Preview #11 Starlord story.

Okay. I see dAN has beaten me to some of this. ROG2000 is killer!

I have a reprint of Star-lord (1st Byrne/Austin/Clairmont team effort?).

I always hoped that the X-Men movie team would bring to bear the X-Mena's greatest foe, visual foe, that is: Proteus!

Aww, Arcade would be just as visual, if a little less intense. Personally, I'd like to see the Hellfire Club fight the most.

That is uncanny. I felt the same way about the artist in the Korvac storyline.
With Nefaria I was thinking. "Oh, now your gonna get it big mouth. Thor has arrived." But then Thor gets clobbered just like everyone else. :D
It's Vision (a very cool character..complex...a great 70's costume too btw) that eventaully puts an end to Neferia. right? Floats up into the atmosphere, turns diamond hard and lands on Neferia's head, right?

Great Comic book fights (hero vs hero):

1) Vision vs Wonderman (over Wnada of course..issue #157 I think)
2) Hulk Vs Daredevil
3) Spidey vs Nightcrawler (Spidey 161?)

Thats correct. Very neat ending.

I like the concept of the Thing Vs. The Hulk fights although I haven't seen one yet that really blew me away. I know the Thing must lose but we're talking two big time heavy weights.

True. But that is why the Hulk vs Dardevil was so compelling...the fact that Daredevil even tried to lay a punch on Hulk was incredibly macho.

Absolutely no question about it. However this kind of scenario reminds me of a Batman vs. Superman fan fiction I've always wanted to write. What would happen if the world’s greatest detective fought an alien that was as fast as the Flash and as powerful as the Hulk? The amount of time between the beginning of the battle and the moment the meat inside Batman's costume would be liquefied would probably be most accurately measured in milliseconds. Without superpowers of any kind and only body armor and a quick wit to aid him, Batman (if all thing are equal and there isn’t some kryptonite bat a rang involved) would have as much chance as Bambi vs. Godzilla. IMHO. :D

Well most of you guys know this from other threads but,

Daredevil
Silver Surfer
Flash (Mid 80s)
X-Men
Vampirella

I'm really not into comics now adays but do check out DD and Heavy Metal at the bookstores. I'm still a major DD head, Miller, obviously is my fav artist...and I'm the only person I know of to have a 'Man w/o Fear' poster in my office for 3 years.

I don't have all the comics that I once had. The collection that I started as a child disappeared mysteriously years ago. What I have left is overwhelmingly DC. I have Superman, Batman, Flash, and so forth. My all-time favorites were Green Lantern (pre-Kyle Raynor) and Legion of Super Heroes.

As I've said before, Crisis on Infinite Earths is the greatest series ever (IMHO).

I'd like to add a few:

Hulk vs Thing (FF 166-167)
Spiderman vs Hulk (ASM 119-120)
Hulk vs Wolverine (Hulk 181, 340)
Thor, Spiderman & Daredevil vs the FF (FF 73)
Black Widow vs Spiderman (ASM 86)
Medusa vs Spiderman (ASM 62)

Mine are all the way downstairs. Is that the one where IM actually beats Hulk, overloads his armor, and Ant Man has to go inside and fix things?

I haven't read teh whole thread. Excuse me if I am repeating.

What about the Hulk versus the Thing?

Or Thor Versus the Hulk. On one page the had a catopin " there is no description for the sound of a train falling on a person" or something like that.

Any Batman with Ras Al Ghul(sp) is awesome. Batman Vs. the Predator was excellent.

I started 'collecting' a few comics about 3 years ago when a good friend of mine started working in a chain that sold comics and cult stuff such as books, figurines etc. She got me into it. Don't go out my way to keep up with it though.
I have about 500 now and have to stop as I have no space for them!!
I like a lot of them for their artwork more than anything.
I have quite a few one offs and special edition covers or signed ones by the writers and/or artists.
I really like stuff by Linsner (Dawn series) and also the Darkness and Witchblade series. And the Aria comics with art by Jay Anacletto(sp)
Have a few things from DC and used to like the Woman of Chaos ones but that line was stopped. Even have a few Vampirella dotted around in there.
Never really bothered with the Marvel line and Marvel Heros.
They started a series of CSI ones though recently which weren't bad but my favourites were the Sandman comics and graphic novels. I would like to get the complete set but the original printings of the comics are quite hard to come by and cost quite a bit now. :(
I have a couple of them and I would be happy to part with the rest of my collection but not those. Got them personally signed by both Dave McKean and Neil Gaiman so am really happy to have them. :D

So anyway-those are my non-exciting choices.

Best Martial Arts Fights
Lady Shiva vs. Green Arrow (not the old guy :))
Shang Chi vs. Shen Kuei (Cat)
Iron Fist vs. Steel Serpent
Richard Dragon vs. Sing
Batman vs. The Wrath (from a one-shot issue called The Player on the Other Side)
Li Mu Bai in a couple of different fights
Karate Kid vs. Nemesis

Not all of these were drawn as well as the event deserved. Either too cartoony or bad choreography. But the fights were superb!

Byrn, I loved the first two Batman vs. Predator series! :)

I should have included DD vs. Bullseye. Some awesome ones there, even if they usually go into thrown objects instead of fighting. But no ninja ever stood a chance against DD, and even fights is what I'm talking about.

BTW, Richard Dragon #1 just came out!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm kinda excited. I didn't know about it at all. I hope it's better than the new Iron Fist comic. Gonna go read it right now. :D
