Agreeing with Alynna, third story with Rosario Dawson as the leader of the 'gals' my favorite, the Marv sequence just to me seemed repeatitive (and I know to many who are fans of the comics, Marv is their favorite character), someone beats the crap out of Marv, now someone shoots Marv full of lead, then repeat.

Yeah, what an awesome movie. That was the best movie I've seen since...um...Life Aquatic I guess. Heh. Unless I forgot something. Lots of fun to watch.
I don't know if I'm just slow, but I totally didn't expect Bruce Willis' character, Hartigan?, to come back. I thought he was dead after the beginning for sure. It was kind of a shock. Awesome stuff. His whole story was great.
Haha, and yeah, Elijah Wood's character was insane.
They could totally make a non-sucky sequel to this movie. They should, too.-jay

Yeah, Jay, that surprised me, too!
And there's tons of issues of the comic to make sequels out of.

So, is it okay to take kids to this movie?

No! Unless those children happen to be close to 18 in age. I would think that this film would give even young teenagers the heebie jeebies. I also think that the themes expressed in this movie are best appreciated by people with some life experience behind them....too young and they won't get it.

here in canada, the movie is rate 14A, meaning that anyone 14 or under must be accompanied by an adult. Taking that to the extreme, my cousin was in a theatre where he saw a guy with his two kids, around 10 and 12 years of age! C'MON! That's way too much for such young kids! I was so angry when I heard this!
But definately a good movie (for the right age group.)
Bruce was great,
as was Mickey Rourke. His character reminded me so much of a human version of Hellboy... anyone else?

Considering some of the content, I'm a bit surprised this is rated R in the US... ten or fifteen years back, and it'd be NC17. Definitely not a kids' or young teenagers' movie.

Yes! I couldn't figure out who he brought to mind until now.

I figured as much, but I wanted to be sure. My kids love Hellboy, and though I'm a big comic guy, I never read either Hellboy or Sin City. I believe they are both published by Dark horse, so I thought maybe they'd be similar type movies. So, I'll go watch it myself next week.

I havent seen the movie yet (it wont hit cinemas till August over here), but in regards to your question, the character Elijah plays wouldnt get involved unless it was directly affecting him. That is what i think, from having read the comics. If that helps.

All you lucky bums that have gotten to see this movie already!!!

Hell Boy is a movie I like a lot. But I do not see any similarities between HB and SC. IMO, HB is not really that far off from the traditional mold of superheroes and superhero comics. BTW, IMO.

Oh, come on. You take away all the bad things you said by adding to them? Sheesh. David Addison (Bruce's character) was GREAT in Moonlighting. You're as impossible to understand as Maddie Hayes (Cybill Shepherd). The show was great for the first 2 seasons, which will soon be available on DVD
www.moonlightingdvd.com/ .The show was aired from '86-'88, if memory serves. Those of you with a sense of humour should buy the DVD.

The DVD is due out soon BUT BEWARE!
I heard on another forum that they will be releasing 2 DVDs
The second one that will be released later will have much more unedited stuff.
I don't know if it's true but these guys seemed pretty convinced.
And It's not as simple as "director's cut" release either.
There was something funny going on that was kinda weird about it.

I already bought the dvd. It came out Tuesday. But I'll get the other one anyway, if it's what I heard. I was told it will be HOURS long, with every panel of the comics filmed. Should be quite a thing to see!
