Sin City

Post by Fist and Faith »

Could there be a better combination of bizarre, fun, and funny? I doubt it. And visually.... Wow! I think it captured the mood of the comic perfectly. Gritty, with that, "It was quite. Too quiet." feel to it. Perhaps more of a guys movie, I think. Heh. Crazy violence, & hot babes!

I can't wait to see this flick ... I'm a huge Marv fan, so I'm very interested to see how Mickey Rourke pulls it off.

Saw it today. I thought it was pretty good. A little bit on the 14 year-old boy side, but that's good once in a while. As much as I like Benicio
Spoiler
especially a talking, dead Benicio
, I could've done without the third sequence, though. It just seemed disjointed.

danlo, I really feel for you, but you had to know flipping off Govenor Schwartzenegger would most likely result in a broken finger.

My favorite movie ever. Saw it at a midnight showing the day it hit theaters, and I can't stop thinking about it. Oh, Marv!

This post might seem disjointed because that is the current state of my mind at this point in time. I blame society.

The stories aren't arranged in chronological order.

I was curious about that too....

I am unfamiliar with the graphic novels.....is this something that the character would do?

I wish I knew. I'll call some people and find out. I think Frank Miller is the best thing that ever happened to comics, and read whatever of his I can find. But I didn't know about Sin City until it had been going for a couple years, and I never got around to reading it from the beginning.

Sin City

Post by taraswizard »

Sin City. I saw this last Friday afternoon. I think I liked it, I know for certain I did not like it as much as Fist and Faith. It was not really what my expectation was, and I am not sure if I knew what my expectation was. I take back all the bad things I ever said, maybe Bruce Willis can act (based on his movies and the insipid, vacuous, assinine 80s or was it 70s series I never thought this guy could act). His protrayal of Hartigan will break your heart. Mickey Rourke as Marv, reminded me so much of Moose Malloy from Farewell my lovely (aka Murder my sweet). Powers Boothe as Senator Roarke will chill you to the soul.

A final note. This is violent, violent, violent. (Godfather and Braveheart violent) It's definitely not for kiddies.

Definitely a fun movie. What a cast! I will forever remember Elijah Wood as Kevin. Frodo? Frodo who??

Quite the opposite of Syl, the third sequence was my favorite, though I agree it did seem a bit off.
