I could see Uma Thurman in Elena's role. I'm probably wrong in seeing Elena as having blonde hair, but for some reason I do, and I don't recall it being stated either way in the text.

Alyson Hannigan's a complete babe, I'd love to see her in anything, but she's really not right either.
I picked her not because of babe factor, (which is unusual for me! ) but for the "deer in the headlights" "lead me around like a puppydog" "semi-constipated" look that I feel Linden has.

No no no!
Don't look at my avatar!
I'm being kinda serious.
That exact same look worked well for Frodo, it works for Linden's character as well, imo.

Plus by the time they ever get around to putting the 2nd Chron of film she'll be old enough to look the part.

I've also seen some spectacular animation recently that makes me want TCOTC to go in that direction.

Heh. She's 31 now (which is why I don't feel guilty oogling her). They'd better hurry up and start filming!

Doh!
I'll try to fix it, since it was a very Elena-esque photo IMO.

Milla Jovovich would be a horrible Elena. It's funny how you say Anglina Jolie doens't have the range but Milla Jovavich (The Fifth Element) does?

Milla Jovavich is one of the worst actors! She simply cannot act nearly well enough to be taken seriously other than a joke.

Umma Thurman as Elena? No way. Again. Umma is a very subpar actress. She doesn't have the talent or the look.

Allyson Hannigan? As Linden? Uh no.

I can only imagine what this movie will turn out IF the cast resembles anything like what we have suggested.

Yes yes.

Arnold Schwargenger as Lena.
Allyson Hannigan as Linden.
Milla Jovavich as Elena.
Eddie Murphy as Bannor.
Robin Williams as Lord Foul.
William Shatner as Thomas Covenant.

I guess we are aiming for the comedic/spoof fantasy trilogy market!

I'd watch it but I'd bring my barf bag.

Well, I'm not quite saying that she's right for the part ... only that she demostrates a look which I find very much closer to how I envision Elena than Jolie.

BTW, here's the image I failed to link to before. Put her in a Lord's robe and there you are.

Sandra Bullock as Linden Avery

Post by studraver69 »

Sandra Bullock as Linden Avery . . . .

she's so sweet . . .

And she's played a lot of roles as some woman traumatized at some earlier stage in her life, yet out to save the world anyways . . .

Watched the Golden Globes last night.

I can now nominate Kate Beckinsale as a potential Elena.

I hope the casting director is going to be female.

Isn't it mentioned somewhere that Elena's hair is brown but with honey-coloured streaks or something like that? She's also (at least on her mother's side) a Stonedowner (SP?), so she shouldn't be too tall. I think it's also mentioned that she looks rather slight and vulnerable but has this fierce expression in her eyes.

Maybe Hilary Swank?

I think in general Angelina Jolie looks too "modern".

And that picture of Kate Beckinsale is scary, although they could probably sell more snacks that way.

Hair colour is an easy problem to fix. And on that note, Elena - Rachel Weiss!

I agree, Kate Beckinsale has virtually no acting range.

Yes, I can perhaps see Rachel Weisz. She's a decent actress.

All these are great but the names are WAY too big. They would never get enough money to pay all these big dollar actors. :)

Although Kate Beckingsale in anything has my vote!

True, but it'd be difficult to discuss casting unknowns, since they are, well, unknown.

Well usually they are unknow but they have been in things. Movies as support roles. I pay attention to these, although none have jumped right out at me and screamed " I AM LINDEN! "

If they are an undiscovered actor well then I agree 100%, we just don't know who you are.

We ought to start an audition thread. :)

[Hair Dye and Make-Up for All, of course]

Atiaran - Kathy Bates or Wendy Malick

Trell - Kevin Sorbo channeling a young Marlon Brando [so he's not a female character - I'm thinking family here...]

Young Lena - Katie Holmes

Old Lena - Sissy Spacek

Elena - Rachel Weisz

Am I the only one that doesn't think Rachel Weisz comes across as someone who can lead a Warward into battle against Lord Foul?

Might be wrong, In my reread Elena doesnt even excist yet  , but Elena never does Lead the Warward into Battle. :P
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.
