Are there any connection between the arguleh and the croyel? There does not seem to be. The incident in WGW seems to have been an unprecedented event. (Otherwise the lore-wise waynhim would surely have known about it.)

found this passage regarding The Kemper's age:
But even that doesn't help me w/my absolutely crazy theory that the Kasreyn is Lord Prothall who ventured above the Northron Climbs, fought and was prosessed by an arghule's coyel. As Foamy pointed out 2 me he'd have 2 b over 4000 years old. (does say that he came from across the seas, tho...)

Since I wrote this I have been asked 2 xpound on this theory, well I told u it was whacked, but...
The idea is that after being safely out of range from the Fire-Lions in LFB, Lord Prothall decides 2 return to his place of origin in the Northron Climbs. He decides 2 live out his days as a hermit and ventures farther north than any of his people have before. He makes home in a cave near the Ice-fields and is either attacked by a group of arghuleh and a coyel jumps him or is posessed by a coryel in his sleep in his cave. As noble as Prothall is over the years the coryel blinds him and instills a major power-lust.
With it's power, and the xtention of Earthpower it takes centuries 4 the coyel to even begin 2 take over...when it finally does he finds a way to cross the seas.
I'll have 2 research if Lord Prothall ever was sucessful in creating vortexs but, compared 2 Linden he is about the same height as the Kasreyn, and if the Kasreyn's age is statius (from time of posession) they r about the same age. His fragility and ancient mein support this. Roughly a lone thaumaturge in this land could b developed from a staff-less, retired High Lord from the Land. It would seem that, mayb, some basis in Earthpower, combined w/the coryel's dark power, could create the type of achievments (Sandgorgon's Doom and the Sandhold, as xamples) The Kemper has wrought. If Webster's defines a thaumaturge as: a worker of miracles and magic, it just seems that a very high degree of power is required, both dark & light, to at least maintian the integrity of those creations over many years.
Why doesn't he recognize Covenant? Well 4 2 reasons, the coryel has finally blinded him, over millenia, so what he sees now is only depravity and power-lust. The second is that TC has drifted so far way. TC's Elohim spell, venom, lack of Earthsense, and deteriorating condition both here and in our world have rendered him almost invisible 2 the eyes of "power". Prothall also understood the white-gold 2 some degree a very, very, very long time ago...but I agree 4000 years is an incredibly long time...
(just random thoughts...)

OK danlo, I'm gonna have to insist that you spell croyel correctly at least once! At the very least, settle on one incorrect spelling!!
I've come up with enough theories that nobody agrees with to applaud this unusual one. Until someone shows me reason that they can't be true, I'll continue to believe them. In your case, the problem that you address, about him not seeming to remember Covenant, was my first thought. Your points are valid. The only problem I can think of off hand is if he seems to have good memory of other things that happened a looooooooong time ago. I'd have to read those chapters again, but I don't remember him mentioning much detail about forming of the Doom and Sandhold, or anything else.

I don't have a problem with Covenant not remembering the Kemper. It it's Prothall, he'd be so completely different mentally and emotionally that the physical resemblance wouldn't be noticable. I'm more concerned with Kemper not remembering the only bearer of white gold that anyone has ever heard of, who Prothall actually knew, though 4 millennia ago.

They were quite dead lords. They were the scepters of the dead Lords. He recognized Kevin Landwaster son of Loric. Beside Kevin stood two other livid men whom he instinctively recognised as Loric Vilesilencer and Damelon Giantfriend. There were Prothall, Osondrea, a score of men and women whom Covenant had never met, never heard named. With them was Elena daughter of Lena. And behind and above them all rose another figure, a dominating man with hot prophetic eyes and one halfhand; Berek Earthfriend, the Lord Fatherer.

Nice consolation prize, danlo! Lady Alif is hot!
And

And
reminds me ofAnd behind and above them all rose another figure, a dominating man with hot prophetic eyes and one halfhand; Berek Earthfriend, the Lord Fatherer.
When Lord Amatin spoke again, she emphasized her words intently. "Amok, what are you?"
Without hesitation, Amok replied, "I am the Seventh Ward of High Lord Kevin's Lore."
His answer threw a stunned silence over the whole gathering. Both Elders gasped, and Corimini had to brace himself on Elena's shoulder. A burst of wild emotion shot across Elena's face. Mhoram's eyes crackled with sudden visionary fire...."
