Well the full blown trailer is now available. Much more showing than the teaser. Looks as if it doesn't matter if you are a Transformers fan or not, if you like Bay and the action films he produces then you'll probably enjoy this.

I grew up a big fan of the Transformers, but really didn't want to see the movie. Now after seeing that trailer, I want to see it bad!

Um....anyone think it's going to be ok for little kids?
When I was about to watch the trailer I told my 4 year old son it was about "trucks that turn into robots" (or the other way around).
OMG! you should have seen his face!
It was like I just told him the secret of the universe! (that's not till he's 11 though)

But the trailer was kinda scary for him.
I thought it was dark and insect-like rather than mechanical looking myself.
Anyone know the expected rating on this one?
PG or PG13 ?

I'm sad to say that trailer has put me right off. I might still see it out of morbid curiosity, but it looks utterly ruined to me. Ugh.

was never "into" Transformers beyond "ooo cool toy" as a kid (were they even Transformers? any other kind of toy like that? 1984 was the year I graduated, so I don't think I was playing with them, but... ), but recently Cartoon Network started re-airing the cartoons (which i don't remember ever watching as a kid or otherwise), but needless to say I could do nothing but CRINGE when I heard InuYasha (which I also despise due to voicing issues) talking with a baaaad southern accent .....I for one think the trailer is awesome, and would be more likely to see it because of dissimilarities to the cartoon.

The cartoon was great at the time (after all, I was...what?...3? 4?) but viewing it now it's a bit pants except for nostalgia value. The comics, on the other hand, were and are brilliant. Simon Furman's stories, in particular, were intelligent and dark. To this day, I love the psychological trauma Ultra Magnus goes through with Galvatron; Galvatron beats Magnus effortlessly over and over, but Magnus has no choice but to get back up and try again each time, because no-one else even stands a chance. And when he does eventually manage to defeat Galvatron by dumping himself into a volcano and dragging Galvatron with him, it's not the end. Magnus survives, preserved in volcanic rock, and when his allies eventually dig him out years later, he discovers it's only because they need him to fight Galvatron again. He's haunted by the endless loop of fighting Galvatron, and has nightmares and paranoid visions of his enemy's sneering face.

Anyway, the point is, there was good stuff in the Transformers canon and this film looks like it just tosses all that away.

Well said. Furman was a great comic writer, and the brit comic was well done.

Yes, I believe Furman was exclusive to the British version of the comic. In that, if nothing else, we were privileged.

He did take over the American comic half way through the US run, and things certainly improved. The grand story where Unicron attacks Cybertron is brilliant. You actually feel for the characters.

But once again, evidence that the Brits do it better. However, if there was a brit making the movie the Autobots would be referring to Prime as guvnor and then requesting a pint of energon at some east-end bar.

Now I can't shake the mental image of Starscream winking Frenchly at the camera.

Starscream was always my favourite character. Furman gave him such depth, instead of making him buffoon like he was in the cartoon.
