Just in case anyone wants to look up Bob Vardeman:
www.CenotaphRoad.com
I read a couple of his series (Cenotaph Road, War of Powers) soon after getting hooked on Donaldson. Very good books! But if anyone has any of his books (or you want to grab some to try them out), make sure you bring them along to get them autographed.
A couple years ago, I had run out of things for Steve to sign at WFC - but realized that I had a stack of Bob's books that I never took to the con. So he and Steve were sitting next to each other at the autograph session - I walked up, said, "hi," to Steve, and plopped down the whole stack of books in front of Bob. I don't think I ever saw so much joy shining from someone's eyes.

But he's a very good writer, and the books in the two series mentioned above are not long - so get to a used book store and find some to try them out. I'd suggest Cenotaph Road first - unless you are particularly attracted to sword porn (which is the general theme of the War of Powers series). Hey - Jenn! Maybe a FBH series based on those books? I think I'd move out to SF so I could be in *every* episode!

I had a hard time finding alot of Vardeman's stuff because it's been out of print. I did manage to get my hands on the entire War of Power series and yes, it's man porn but it's incredibly imaginative well written man porn with an emphasis on the storyline rather than the porn aspect. I have also met Bob and found him charming and very personable. Hope you guys enjoy the heck out of him.....sigh.....

I've read The Sundered Realm and Road to the Stars a long time ago.
I put the deposit down on the videotaping this aft-the biz has won eight major awards and appears to be VERY professional. The quality on this recording is going to destory the '04 one...I guarantee!

"Sword porn?" I guess I don't want to know. I remember his Star Trek books but I haven't read anything else of his.
Did we ever set a limit on the number of books that we can bring for SRD to sign?

Star Trek books! Thank you - I knew his name from somewhere but could not place it.

I don't think there's a limit to what he'll sign. But if you have a lot, you might want to start at the back of the line - or get a few signed and then circle around to the back for another round. That's the way they ask you to do it at WFC if you have a lot of books for a single author.

Don...
I'm a library book reader so I'll have none of my own to bring. Would you like me to stand in line with some books for you?

I have to decide which books to bring.....my hardback collection of First Chronicles is incomplete, so I'll wait on that. I think I'll bring my hardback 2nd Chronicles and ROTE, so 4 books shouldn't be too many. Thanks for the offer, though!

I'll be talking with many of you in person this time next week!
Oh! BTW, I'd vote for
The Princess Bride. However, the Holy Grail is
never a bad decision. Since we watched it last time, it might be a good tradition!

OK well Pam's going to be here tomorrow night. I'm going to call the Trophy Co. and see where the plaque is today. I got Pan's Labyrinth and Princess Bride yesterday-the idiots say there are 2 copies of MP & HG
somewhere in the store-but they can't find them-I've put a hold on one, regardless (if anyone has a copy and wants to bring it?)...

time to put fresh batteries in the digital

I can't believe it's
soooo close. I'm never going to fall asleep tonight.

I love
The Princess Bride. I never did make it to the Hippodrome to see
Pan's Labyrinth...

Videocasette OK? My library's website says it has one copy available on casette. All of the DVD copies are out...
Uhmmm...
Can I get away with saying I'm camera shy and request no lens be pointed my way?
Boo...I didn't think so.
Just don't let me see a camera pointing at me then, as I will do my best to avoid it...

Okay, I might be stupid, but what is MP & HG? I dug through the thread, but I can't find it.

MP & HG...
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
My understanding is that it was shown at danlo's in 2004 at the last ElohimFest, so I think Fist suggested making it a tradition...

HG - Holy Grail (ALA John Cleese and the gang)
MP -- I am sure its obvious, but does'nt come to me at the moment
Menolly beat me to it. I could always bring Blazing Saddles, which manages to offend almost everyone.....

:curt nod:
I'll slink off to watch a
Dr. Who CD-R or read some more of King's
DT (or maybe even crash, depending on the equivalent to EDT by the time it's put on) if any Mel Brooks is shown. But, that's just me. Very little of his stuff is to my taste at all.
:::although the traveling company of
The Producers is coming to Gator Town, and Paul really wants to drag me to see it, sigh:::
