Roll over. Not for every page change, but when the shift becomes burdensome, try the other side and see how you feel about adapting to holding the opposite side of the book for alternating pages.

It may work out for you, or you may want to focus on learning to read in a more upright position.

The important thing is to keep reading!

Same. It's like I've gotten out of the habit with all the shortened internet posts. The last few books I've read were Home Work by Julie Andrews, Me by Elton John, and now I'm in the middle of Mythos by Stephen Fry.

I currently do a whole lot more checking books out than reading... I think I need to get a larger percentage fiction I've never read before.
That's one sort-of bottleneck.

Also, I seem to have lost 3 books I want to read: "The Good Earth," Asimov's "Foundation," and well... the first Percy Jackson book.
You could say I'm reading that last one for professional reasons.

After two weeks of lounging around and not reading a word, I finished Women Talking. I wanted to like this book more than I ultimately did.

More than the book, though, I enjoyed checking out the reviews on Goodreads. They fall firmly into two different camps:

1) This is the best written and most important book to come out in years,

2) This is boring because nothing happens.

The premise of the book is there in the title: It's a discussion that a group of women has over the course of two days. That's it. Yet the issues they raise, the proposed solutions, and the consequences are all intensely interesting. I honestly don't understand the second crowd... They seem the type to confuse story with plot (much like J.J. Abrams, but maybe I should leave that for the Flicks forum).

Still, as much as I liked it, I... also didn't. I haven't settled on a "why" yet, though I have a hunch that the reason is technical, more than anything. Rather like that one Jodi Picault book I read where I found myself thinking halfway through, "This is a really interesting story, and I wish a better writer had written it." Not that it was bad, or anything, just... not as good. I settled on 4 stars out of 5.

Now I'm on to Northern Lights, which I'm enjoying but which is also a big change of pace.

Finished Sword of Kings, and there will indeed be at least one more, (hey, maybe two), Uhtred books. :d

(occupational hazard. but actually quite delightful. YA-fic all the way, baby!)

And I've started a old wonderful non-fic book called Particles - An Introduction to Particle Physics, by Michael Chester.

When I was a little girl, my dad had me read this book, "Particles," to him aloud over the course of weeks.
Afterwards, I may have thought I wanted to be a particle physicist (as opposed to a fashion designer or an oceanographer... my other two top picks before age 10) for awhile.
