Yeah. . . some of us are good at excuses.

My husband is such a dork. Here's how V-Day went:

It was just like any other day. We had decided prior to V-Day that we weren't going to get each other anything or do anything this year. Money is extremely tight, and we're trying to buy a house by June (yeah, right).

So my husband calls me when he's leaving from work and before I could say hey he says, "Hey honey did you check the forums?" in a very urgent tone. "...no?", I say, very perplexed.

"Ok, well did you check my Twitter?"

"No."

"My blog?"

"No."

"My DeviantArt?"

"NO!"

"Did you check anywhere else in the entire existance of the internet in which I post things?!"

"FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, NO!!"

"Ok, good. Don't."

"&*%*@$ WHY?!?!"

"Because I have a surprise for you."

Wow, I think to myself. My husband is an awesome artist, maybe he drew something for me or got me a card or something after all!! He really thought about me!

So he gets home and I'm mega excited, expecting something grand. He boots up the laptop and tells me not to look at the screen while he pulls the page up. I can't contain myself at this point, but manage to look away. Then he says, "Ok, look!" and I look and see.....

....the new Indiana Jones movie teaser trailer playing.

"Happy Valentine's Day!" he says to me.

Yeah, happy Valentine's.

JazFusion, you are clearly married to a certified *guy*.

I was browsing in a gift shop today and saw some lovely, black-and-red fabric flowers, with anti-Valentine's sayings. Perhaps my favorite:

"LOVE is EVOL"

I didn't buy any, tho.

MagickMaker opened her card Friday night and said it was quite possibly the worst one she's ever gotten from me. Exactly the response I was looking for! I did a little victory dance on the spot!

Oooh. . . I want a LOVE is EVOL shirt!

There is a little story my family still tells occasionally about my now ex-wife. She had been all excited about breadmakers back in the day, and really wanted one. I got her one for Vday and said it was something that she would be excited about. I told the truth and said it was a bit outside of my budget, but I wanted to get it for her. I must have built it up too much as she thought it was an engagement ring. She was disappointed once she saw the packaging, and then opened it.

Well, I didn't know she would jump to that conclusion. I guess it's probably what finally made me decide to propose to her later on.

What part made you decide? That she was disappointed it wasn't a ring, or that she didn't deck you for giving her a breadmaker for Valentine's Day?

I guess the point that she was interested in such things, and that we had already been together something like 7 or 8 years.
