Seeing as we're on a topic of pet travails. We have two dogs. Willy is mostly Caucasian so large, hairy, and sweet natured. Orellia is a mutt we inherited from a family who left Nigeria and also very sweet. Unlike Willy, she is plagued with vermin. I spray her and her sleeping area with chemicals every few days, but the dang fleas won't leave her alone. Unfortunately we've had this issue before to where the dogs needed a kerosene bath. It kills the vermin effectively but it also half-kills the poor dogs, so I really don't want to go there yet.
Because this is Nigeria, there are only limited products available and the quality is always questionable. What should be a once-a-month treatment is what I'm using twice a week. Poor doggo.

Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a great battle. -Philo of Alexandria

Kerosene bath? Yikes. Sounds awful for everyone involved.
I'm going through my usual mid-June/early July drama with my youngest cat. She was diagnosed with stress-related interstitial cystitis about 6 years ago now, and it's not usually a big deal because she's a housecat with a very low-stress life, but she always has a flare-up at this time of year. I suspect it has something to do with my neighbors setting off so many fireworks that it sounds like WWIII every night between about 11 pm and 3 am. I have the artificial pheromone stuff going for her, and she's pretty relaxed throughout the day, but it isn't enough to compensate when the noise starts. Which is fun because she gets more defensive than scared, and her response is to angrily pee in the direction of the explosions. Going to send those neighbors my laundry bill.

Shame, mine is a bit unhappy right now, bandage changes yesterday, and she ended up in a cone to stop her worrying at some skin irritations etc. She's very miserable about it.
Boss decided at the last minute not to renew our office lease, so yesterday was frantic packing up of office in order to be out today, long day.

How long does she need to be in the cone?
So, everyone is remote working going forward?Avatar wrote:Boss decided at the last minute not to renew our office lease, so yesterday was frantic packing up of office in order to be out today, long day.

Dunno, but I assume until the irritation and pressure sore clears up, otherwise she just licks off the ointment.Menolly wrote: How long does she need to be in the cone?
Yeah, for now anyway. Cases are rising quite dramatically here as the lock-down has eased, so he doesn't want us to risk it.So, everyone is remote working going forward?
We've been remote working since mid-March anyway, before the official lock-down.

She was upset, because the data in the database was messy. But the data was messy because of idiotic decisions she made during tax season. Basically, she wanted me to do the overtime to fix her mistakes. I don't work there anymore.Sorus wrote:I haven't been around much because my work schedule is a bit soul-destroying right now. We have a new middle manager who is a contender for being the least mature person I have ever worked with. Long story short, he got into a huge fight with his boss, which he won? by claiming he has corona symptoms. And spent the rest of the week claiming he was having trouble getting tested. So we're all wondering if we've really been exposed. Fun times.
oh dang, i'm way behind in my lurking!! good griefs all around!! and many many hugses!!

The official fireworks shows here have all been cancelled. The unofficial ones have already been going on for the last three weeks.
Hoping they use up their supply tomorrow and it doesn't go on for another three weeks.

Only if we test positive. And that guy doesn't have it. He was a new hire who was supposed to be training off-site - he told that location that he was working at our location while we thought he was working at their location. His boss called them to verify his payroll for that period, and discovered he hadn't been working at all. So the guy came waltzing in a few days later like nothing had happened, and when confronted he totally blew up and then claimed he had COVID. And has been claiming for the last two weeks that he just keeps getting sicker and has been unable to schedule a test. Which is BS. I checked to see how difficult it was to get a test because I was curious, and there are plenty of appointments.Skyweir wrote:oh noSorus thats got to be worrying. Happy Independence Day to all in the US, and citizens of the US visiting or residing elsewhere!
I think this is the first time in several years I didn't hear any home fireworks/fire crackers go off the night before. We'll see if that carries through tonight.
(I am a native born US citizen, but I find this meme funny...)

More of a disaster movie, really, but it's not Charlton Heston in the pilot's seat.

On monday instead of my usual 10.
But my captain went to the major today
And we got out on time. The building
Even showered my inmates for me.
