The thunderstorms never came through this afternoon. As a result, we spent a wonderful afternoon with Fist and his children (plus a bonus friend of his older daughter) over in the Catskill Mountains at a really beautiful swimming hole in a mountain stream. 8)

Man, that water was cold. But we all got in over our heads at least once, except for Fist's son, who doesn't seem to care for water, and the baby (its way too cold for a tiny person like Miss Shaina). :) Of course, I did have to taunt Calibaby to get him to go in -- "Eric is a man. He jumped in!! Why are you just standing there on the big rock?"

It was so pretty there. :) Two days in a row in the woods with rushing water. 8)

I can commiserate with Cali--It's no wonder he likes Southern California! 8) Fist is, well, he's a Haruchai--what do you expect!? :D (now we know why he eats 12 bowls of ice cream at a pop)

Duchess, bigred and Calibaby outside Cold Stone Creamery at Times Square - not sure what distracted them all from the camera simultaneously, but it must've been big:

Brinn...I cracked up duchy's family by saying "Tam (my wife) will kill me because I flew all the way from New Mexico to New York to buy an Anahiem Angels t-shirt at the Palisades Mall." I haven't rooted for the Yanks in 10 years, but my Bro-in-Law (an intense Yankees fan, even though he's originally from Boston) gave me the hat which was immensely cooler on the head, in the heavy duty humidity, than the ballcap I brought from home. He was trying to convert me back but the Atheletics were giving me such ulcers that it didn't work. I am standing outside a Yankees store, tho...

Sorry Furls they slammed the phone in my face in the middle of a huge scarf. 8)

Just got back from another day in NYC with duchess & family. Good food, good sights, hot women... You just gotta love the city!! duchess and I lit candles in St. Patrick's Cathedral for Furls. I got some Pokemon figures for my kids. (OK, some were for me too.) Lasagna and pizza in Little Italy. All round good time! :D

We had a great day in NYC yesterday. We parked in Queens ($4/12 hours as opposed to the $10/30 minutes in Manhattan) and took the subway over to Manhattan. Our first stop was the Cold Stone Creamery in Times Square where Fist once more had two flavors. :) My son then bought soccer shoes on sale dirt cheap at a great sporting goods store at Times Square. :)

We then walked around a lot through Midtown. We saw Rockefeller Center, went shopping at the Nintendo Center, and visited St. Patrick's Cathedral, where Fist and I lit candles for Furls' healing. :)

We eventually got onto a subway and headed down to Chinatown where we got snacks and went shopping. My younger son bought a really cool (real) sword for under $30. :)

Then came Little Italy and fantastic pizza.

We then walked through Soho over to Greenwich Village. In Greenwich Village we went to a tea/coffee shop that has been in business for well over 100 years. I got three kinds of tea and Fisty got one. There were also some naughty shops along the way, and it was a hoot to see things like glow-in-the-dark massage lotion displayed in the windows.   We also sat in a little park for awhile and Fist fed the pigeons, and nearly started a birdy riot.

Another subway trip followed. We headed up to the upper West Side where we visited the restaurant with what is reputed to have the best hot dogs in the world, Gray's Papaya. My sons were the only ones who got food (the rest of us got fresh, chilled juice, though) and they did say the hot dogs were superb.

We then walked over to Central Park, where we visited the John Lennon Memorial in Strawberry Fields and we sat and relaxed in the grass for awhile. :)

Yet another subway ride followed, back down to Times Square, then back over to Queens. Fist has discovered you could buy an unlimited ride one day pass for $7, and we certainly got our money's worth that day. 8)

We were tired and hot, so soaked in the swimming pool and hot tub when we got back to Middletown. 8)

We're about to head out and drive home. We all had a great time, and Fist was a perfect host for the week we spent here. :hearts:
