He was here abouts yesterday, though I don't think he's made any posts since October. Hoping he got the info on Elohimfest 3 and is able to go...lorin wrote:anybody seen wayfriend? did I miss something?

Yes, lorin, he vanished last fall. His Donaldson scholarship and his Win Wayfriend's Money games are both very much missed.
As you probably know, he (like many Watchers) was possessed of strong opinions. Scuttlebutt is that he got in a tussle in a Flicks thread. The discussion probably belonged in the Tank. I have not read the actual threads, but apparently the difference of opinion was such that he has chosen to be on hiatus all this time.
Hopefully time will heal and he will return to us.

luckily I have no strong opinions about anything, so I remain tusslefree and easily swayed about everything and anything.Savor Dam wrote:Yes, lorin, he vanished last fall. His Donaldson scholarship and his Win Wayfriend's Money games are both very much missed.

I believe it was the Hobbit thread. It devolved into a debate that was essentially about Peter Jackson and the NZ actor's union, so I split that stuff off into a separate thread and moved it into the Tank. Like so many others, WF took issue with the way I handled it, and hasn't been heard from since.Savor Dam wrote:Yes, lorin, he vanished last fall. It is a good job we are unable to access the Wild Magic in this reality, otherwise, the Watch would not have survived intact, due to the passion's raised in the various different sub-forums.Savor Dam wrote:

I pm'd Wayfriend the other day to say that his input into the Watch was sorely missed - as it is - and that I hoped that we would hear from him again soon as I for one am awaiting the conclusion of 'Nom's Garden' with the same patience I had learned to await Donaldsons works. ____ had given me a little background as to what had occured re the Flicks/Tank incident and Wayfriend in his reply to me amplified a little as to why he had decided to stop posting for the time being at least. I have not read the threads involved as my main interest was to try to get WF posting again asap, not in the causes behind his decision. My interest was in large part selfish, because for some reason I always found Wayfriends posts not only very knowledgeable but also a great 'barometer' against which I could set my own (often very different) oppinions to asess their value. I for one would have been very interested on his take on AATE - and given the polarisation of opinion the work has generated (see 'How Bad Can It Be' for an example of this) in this area alone I feel his absence keenly. Still - here's hoping he sets the reasons aside as to his not posting, and finds that the reasons to resume are greater.

Yes, Wayfriend's posts often prompted intensity in the Tank, but, his posts throughout the rest of the Watch were always stellar and great to read. Most especially, for me, are the TC related posts, and of course Win Wayfriends Moneypeter wrote:I pm'd Wayfriend the other day to say that his input into the Watch was sorely missed - as it is - and that I hoped that we would hear from him again soon as I for one am awaiting the conclusion of 'Nom's Garden' with the same patience I had learned to await Donaldsons works. ____ had given me a little background as to what had occured re the Flicks/Tank incident and Wayfriend in his reply to me amplified a little as to why he had decided to stop posting for the time being at least.
