Yes, after you're done WGW, it might be a good idea to take a break from the Chronicles instead of rushing straight into Runes. Go ahead, read the Mordant books. I hope you enjoy them! I certainly do, but it bears repeating that they are very different from the Chronicles. I'll leave it at that, 'cuz this isn't the forum for a TC vs. MN debate.

And, yes, before any thought of starting Runes, you really should read all of WGW (at least once!). It's your business if you don't want to, of course. But...it would astound me to hear of a reader who got all the way to the sixth Covenant book - and then stopped, just like that. You would be missing out on so much glory and transcendence in that "last" book.

I'm finally done with all of my traveling and vacationing for the summer. Yay. My thesis is written, and it's in the hands of my committee. And I'm set to defend on Friday. I'm very tired. Woo...heh.-jay

Best of luck Jay. I will know the feeling one day, hopefully. Would like to get a doctorate in my field or at least a masters.

I stumped my foot on a heavy box last night, and now my little toe feels broken or something. No bruise showing but it hurts to move it. I also work up this morning with a terribly stuffy nose, even though it's the middle of summer. Oh well. Feeling mentally good, at least...*grumble*

Oooh...yeah baby! Is that Zaphod Beeblebrox?

I'm good. Had a weekend unpacking boxes (still) from the house move. Busy doing other bits and pieces which urgently need to be done. Son of Seareach has taken up singing. He spends most of his time screaming at me "nooooooo stoppppppppp" when I sing, but he's finally decided to try it for himself (that and dancing). So cute!

Hope you do well with your thesis Jay!

Hope you're feeling better soon LF.

And |G Lore!

Thanks, Sea. Took a lot of blowing and moaning and groaning and a couple vitamin C tablets, but I think it's gone. Now I just gotta figure out if this toe will be able to jog today. Might leave it at home if it won't! *grumble*

I could do with a nap...wonder if anyone will notice if I slide under my desk for a while?

Life is great. Performing extremely well in my new job - I actually like it, high chance of getting a better job in a few months, med effects low (no longer so drowsy) . . . . and everything else is just great.

I feel like moving out. My grandmother's a packrat to nth degree; you walk inside the house and you'd think a crazy person lives there; no empty space, walls covered with portraits, souvenirs, cheap, sentimental trash on top of the TV, around the couch, on every coffee table, everywhere. We have four rooms that do nothing but hold piles of junk. Don't even get me started on the refrigerator.

On top of all this, I'm a pretty darn organized guy who highly values cleanliness. It's like I'm in some kind of hell or twilight zone, and it's probably my main source of depression. Bad part is, I'm probably living here till I get my education finished and get a job. One room alone in the house would take weeks--maybe a month or two--to clean, and I don't want to inherit a mess I didn't make. I don't know how I stand this place, really. It was like this before I was born, so I guess I've just grown to ignore it. Man, can't stand slobs. If I marry someone, they better tell me right now whether or not they know what minimalism or breathing space is, or I will hit them with a giant cudgel.

I don't know if your Grandfolks are the same, but I had a friend once I tried to "help" with her "problem", and I almost lost the friendship because of it.....stacks of old dept store sale flyers from 10 yrs ago she couldn't part with, things like that times a million....when she got home from work I had my entire truckbed filled with absolute TRASH just from her living room just inside the entry.....and I had to put it all back! 8O

be careful, LF, I found out it's a disease usually, a symptom of something else..... ;)

I'm seeing the world very clearly this morning....for the first time in a while.
It'd take you a long time to blow up or shoot all the sheep in this country, but one diseased banana...could kill 'em all.

I didn't even know sheep ate bananas.
