I feel infinitely better than I did yesterday. Seareach, do not dispair; time will pass and you will forget all the moments except for the ones like this:

My wife hates that too.
She feels miserable that so many other mothers are all connected.
Like somehow it's her fault and not just the usual "hard to join an existing group" thing.
She used to work a lot more than now and never had the time that the others Moms had to get together.
Over time and as the groups and activities change it gets better.
Seareach wrote:and I guess if I hadn't sat around looking like a spare wheel and feeling uncomfortable while no one talked to me....
Nobody likes a party pooper!
You've got to mingle woman.
Comment about how cute some kid is even though she's kinda ugly...all that stuff.
Seareach wrote:and I guess if Son of Seareach hadn't thumped another kid and the mother hosting the party hadn't verbally laid into him...
Ah! That's bad. She shouldn't have done anything like that but it happens.

Seareach wrote:and I guess if Son of Seareach hadn't then decided to then go and bite some other kids arm...
Don't be too embarassed to put your kid in a timeout even during a birthday party.
Seareach wrote:and I guess if I hadn't then burst into tears and excused both me and Son of Seareach from the party...and I guess if he hadn't then screamed like he was being abducted all the way home (all 25 minutes "stroll" up the road)...well, I guess if all that hadn't happened I might say "I feel great today". I give up, I honestly do!
Don't be too embarassed to kick your son's ass either!

I think pretty much everyone who has a small child goes through an event like that at one point or another - whether a party or a grocery shopping trip, or a family reunion, or in a restaurant.

Know that you are not alone; do not hesitate to give your child a time out if needed. Sometimes it is the very excitement of such an event that can set them off, and a time out can really help calm them down. :)
Love as thou wilt.

Yeah, none of this is new. Kids are wild and free; apparently they leave the factory with absolutely no programming whatsoever.

Hey Seareach, my mom has struggled with the in-crowd of moms with both mine and my sister's friends, since we've been in school. They act like a bunch of teenage girls, the way they shoot dirty looks at my mom sometimes, and their daughters are total bitches to my sister. My mom's a lot younger than the majority of them, btw. So my mom has just decided to make fun of them to me & my dad. :P

You and Sawyer have a lot in common...ohh, i'm finding myself very attracted to you right now...

Seriously, Sea - kids do play up for their parents! I think rebellion is not genetic, but instinctive. I notice how different my 3 and a half year old nephew behaves around his parents & when he's with me. Being 'favorite aunty', and because he doesn't see me 24/7, he is almost willing to walk on water for me, whereas he can be downright rude or uncooperative with his Mum or Dad. Didn't you do the same with your parents? I'm sure they'd report similar behaviour from you as a kid too! I still don't like those 'cliquey mom' things (yeah, high school is OVER, girls...we can go back to being humans again! ) and I would rather not mix with obviously inferior intellects or have my child associate with their similarly challenged children....crikey, I'm a snob!

I bet they all wear track pants...

With people of only moderate ability modesty is mere honesty; but with those who possess great talent it is hypocrisy.
