The day started off with Lady Tam's High Tea. This was the last event for several people, so there were hugs and tears all around.
After a bit of a mishap getting started, danlo then took a group of us to Andelain (awesome), and then a smaller group to Jemez Falls to swim. Wadds climbed up the side of the smaller waterfall, while we all stood there muttering under our breath, "Don't fall, don't fall..."
She didn't. It was pretty impressive.
Right now Wadds and Damelon are here, and we are awaiting Fist and Chr-sty. I doubt it will be a very late night, as Damelon wants to hit the road for Denver at 5:00 am, and Fist's flights is around 7:30 am.
My flight doesn't leave until 3:50 pm. I can't believe it's over...
To everyone who made this happen for me, thanks again. I am truly humbled to know such excellent people.

It was a GREAT time!
And, since no one else has mentioned it, I wanted to note the "THOOLAH ... THOOLAH ... THOOLAH" chant that went up at one point in the interview. (after SRD mentioned something about someone not liking Linden - or something like that - clearly a comment made with THOOLAH in mind)

And then the ravens pecked out his eyes.

Awesome.
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.
Full of the heavens and time.

Well said. Iquestor and I had the same kinds of feelings - I'd look across the table at him and say "Dude, that's SRD sitting over there!" And how about the ultra lucky Believer, who actually sat at the same table with SRD?Wayfriend wrote: Mostly what I remember is how uncool I was, on the inside - how emotionally affected I was - about the fact that SRD was right there. I didn't realize it would mean so much to me.
...
At one point in the night SRD had depricatingly referred to himself as just a writer. I almost jumped out of my seat and said, You're not just a writer! But later when he signed my book I took the chance to tell him, Sir, you're not just a writer to me.
And that's what I'll always remember most. That I got to say that.
Made it home just now, safe and sound. Thanks again to Danlo and Lady Tam - we experienced a bit of the hospitality of the Land this weekend. I had the best time! It was good to see old friends again and to make new friends.

I know you won't believe this, but sometimes my mind goes a little quirky.
Anyway Believer set it off by quietly mentioning how fascinating it would be to sit at the authors table, so I took him up to SRD and Vardeman and asked if he could join them...and the rest is:
(Waddley) SRD, Jennifer, Believer, Chris Vardeman (behind his dad-you can see him in the reflection), Bob Vardeman
-------------
The seat next to Wadds is empty, because it's the cameraman's and I can assure you she is DEFINITELY not dAN!!!

:::waving from Albuquerque airport:::
Saying good-bye to danlo, Lady Tam, and Miss Elora this afternoon was so hard...
:::weeping:::
Once my flight is called, I'll be AFK until tomorrow. I don't land in Tampa until 11:20 tonight, and then it's a two hour drive home to Gator Town.
I can't believe it's over.

I just dropped Menolly off at the airport-and I've tried to load a few random photos to the album-but am having some technical problems, so I'll unload them here for now.

the crazy "Brunch Bunch"

A couple of HAWT Watch Women

Dukkha chats with Vardeman

High Tea (with Jojo dog) and a wicked flash off poor Damelon's head
(wild capture of dlb in the mirror)

Jennifer is SRD's wife.
Now if I could just find a way to wear live bees as jewelry all the time.....

I thought that was probably the case, but didn't want to say in case she was his daughter or something. Wow...makes me want to be an author. Every author I have ever met has a beautiful trophy wife. Uhh...wife. Pardon me.
VERY cool. I kick myself more for missing, but I did do something this weekend that I definitely wouldn't have done had I gone...quit smoking. At least for a day. And today as well. We'll see how long it'll run this time.
Then again, I totally relate to Wayfriend's report. I would be so nervous to talk to the man. I don't get starstruck all that much, but I definitely would have been. His writing shaped my life, to a degree. I think I would have stammered a lot. And constantly thought, "That's him...right over there."
Musicians do that for me too. I almost ran over E of the Eels in Lawrence Kansas, and about freaked out when I realized who I almost killed. Idiot rocker...jaywalking.

Time is a waste of life
So get wasted all of the time
And you'll have the time of your life
