Hi. I'm Zack, and I just had my first question answered on Gradual Interview (in the psuedo spoilers), so I'm on a buzz from that. I've read all of Donaldson's fantasy and science fiction novels; I've enjoyed the lot, and the original chronicles of Thomas Covenant are my all time favorite, and probably my favorite fantasy series ever. I first read it in high school, and immediately identified with the lead character- while some of his actions were abhorrent to me, his inner turmoil and self-loathing were things I could relate to.

I live in Lewiston, ME, and work as an assistant librarian; I have a degree in theater and English Lit, and spend most of my time reading, watching movies, writing, and, yes, posting on various message boards. My favorite novels (aside from Covenant) includie Gravity's Rainbow, Misery, the Gormenghast trilogy, Pale Fire, Don Quixote, and a bunch of other terrific stuff I'm forgetting.

I have my own website, were I review movies and the source material they were adapted from. I also write fiction, but lord knows how that's going.

The ending of Runes of the Earth scared the crap out of me, but I guess I'll mention that elsewhere.

Welcome Marlowe!
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

Hey, Zack. Welcome.
I was just reading your Ring/Ringu review, and you mentioned there wanting to get an english copy of the book - was wondering, did you ever do that?
I read the book last year, and would be interested to see what someone else thought.

I actually did get a copy of the book- it took me a while to finally read it, but while I had a hard time getting into it (either the translation was bad or the original writing was sorta thuddish), once I did get into it, I enjoy it quite a bit. I especially liked some of the ideas near the end; the apocalyptic vision the main character gets of what the video could do to the world is really nifty.

I haven't sought out the next volume, as I hear it's not very good. Maybe someday.

Glad people are liking my site. :)

Hey Marlowe, I love Maine, its like a second home. My family vacationed at Moosehead Lake from 82-97 every summer. Part of my honeymoon was in Kennebunkport. My dad grew up in East Winthrop.

Hey there everybody! My name is Devon and im 15 going to be a sophomore in high school. I live in Irving, Texas near Dallas. Im not really considered a nerd, I skateboard and have been playing drums for 3 years now. I have to say I love fantasy books. When my mom said I had to read this book called "Lord Foul's Bane" I had to read it. Ive read four of the books in a week and im on The One Tree now. I have to say I got addicted and have become antisocial 8O . I read about 5 or more hours a day, no less. I HAVE TO READ THEM ALL!!! So as you can see... I have to go read now. God I love these books!

Welcome, MJ! It's always great to meet a first time reader. Steer clear of the Thomas Covenant and Runes forums for now (due to spoilers.) But if you like, you can check out the Dissecting the Land forum now - we've discussed each of the first six books chapter-by-chapter there, and we'd love to hear your perspective as a first time reader.

Hey all, been here awhile, but never intro'd myself, at least, I don't remember, and this thread is to long to look and see if I did. Now, I'll just have to remember from here on out that I already gave my intro. I'm 28, lived in NJ just about my whole life (born in Jackson, MI, but parents moved when I was 3 months). For those that don't know, NJ is about the best place to live. I'm serious. Don't laugh at me.

Been married 2.5 years to my beautiful bride, Jessica. What a blessing she is. We're house shopping, but that's a sucky venture. I'm a software developer in "Princeton". Basically, any company w/in 20 miles of Princeton gives its address as Princeton, and we're one of those companies. Graduated from Rutgers in 2000, and for those who aren't sure, it IS Ivy League (not).

Just got back 2 weeks ago from my first visit to another country, Italy. Venezia is beautiful, everyone should visit w/a significant other. Love sports, playing or watching, and love my Philly home teams. Except Sixers, NBA is stupid. And I have a weird obsession w/Univ of Michigan, must be from the hospital I was born in.

I love to read, I'm usually in the middle of 2 books, plus My Utmost For His Highest and the Bible. I cut out TV and video games about 2 years ago and realized there is alot of time in a day. If only I could survive on 4 or 5 hours of sleep, but I need 8.

BTW, my last name is Wiesendanger.
