Best of luck with the operation - but I am certain thinsg will be fine. And think of how much reading time and movie watching time you will have. 8)

I'm a bit frazzled. Last week one of my younger son's friends was in a bad accident and had to have some surgeries and was in the ICU for a week. He's finally home, so I took my son over there before work today. Man, that kid is messed. He's messed bad. Broken collar bone, arm broken in two places (upper arm and lower arm, both compound fractures). Broken ribs. One side of his face smashed up (the docs had to put in a steel plate so his face looks like frankenstein mask). Concussion. And he is only 13, really small for his age, just this very sweet little boy. He was happy because he was able to open the eye on the messed up side of his face for the first time since the accident today (that's how swollen up he is). Poor baby.
Love as thou wilt.

Serial killers have nothing in common with people who have dedicated their lives to the healing of others. I'll pray you can have peace through this, Luci.

I'm excited because I got my tickets to visit Frankfurt and London in October. It's my first time visiting Europe evah.

Also a *wee* bit tense because it turned out my birth certificate doesn't have the embossed stamp they need for a passport. FedExed a request to birthplace for the b.c., will do the same with the passport folks. I'm just going to assume I'll get it in time.

Tired because I have to pencil a zillion pages by the 17th, but that's just SOP.

I feel pretty good today - I've been on my replace-two-meals-a-day diet since Sunday, and I have actually GAINED energy (had a killer headache on Wednesday night, but it's probably sinus - we're coming up to spring in Oz...no, not KW's spring, the one where all the flowers start blooming and bees get buzzing)

AND a mate of mine gave me his top-of-the-range knee brace to go snowboarding with! A little extra security for my reconstructed knee!

AND...it's FRIDAY!!!! Which means it's poets day (Piss Off Early, Tomorrow's Saturday)

I feel full of waffles.

Well, this Thursday is back to school. Really savoring the summer. Beautiful day today. Actually, it's cloudy, the sky completely covered in a light gray. But still, I have an affinity for dreary-looking days; something very peaceful/contemplative about 'em, I dunno.

Actually pretty darn excited about going back to the college. Bought a new backpack (looked up the best kinds on the Net). Just gotta talk to the financial aid lady, make sure I get my 500$ for books and such. One of my classes sounds particularly exciting: Medieval Women Mystics, taught by Dr. Carmen Butcher, whose specialty is Beowulf. She came to one of my classes once as a guest speaker, told us how the strong mead was that the people in Hrothgar’s hall drank, how “easy” it would be for us to learn Anglo-Saxon. Ha!

In 2008, my senior year, I plan on going abroad again: this time to Asia, hopefully Japan. I'm going to buckle down from now on, try for all As (did it a couple semesters ago, so it's possible to keep doing it, I figure). Not that I need all As to go to Asia; just thought I'd do my best for my grandparents and all, who'll be paying for the thing. Okay, now I'm really ruining my rep as a Despiser, huh? :hearts:

Just returned from Europe....my body clock was is all screwy but I feel pretty good. The 10 days abroad really were exactly what I needed.....I feel refreshed and industrious. Despite drinking much wine everyday and eating traditional German food - I only gained 1 pound. We walked everywhere! My brother and I will be getting out photos together over the next week or so and then I will set up an album online. I have over 200 shots to pick from just from my camera alone so I will probably post them gradually.

Jwaneeta - let me know if you need any ideas for your time in Germany - just got back and I have family over there....we can hook you up with some really cool sites.

Thanks, Lorelei! Actually, Germany's going to be the short part -- I'm meeting two friends in Frankfurt for the book fair and then I'm going over to England. I'll really only have about a day and half there.

It's kind of a bummer, but I'm hoping to go back in the future. I've been looking at my German travel book and there are *so* many great things I'd love to see.

(One of said friends is going to meet my plane and take me directly to the book fair. *cowers* She's an intrepid world traveler sort and quite immune to jetlag, so she doesn't realize what a comatose blob I'll be by the time I land. Ah well! :) )
