I read that a couple of weeks ago. It was really good. I'm reading Swords Against Death on the side now. I'm not sure that I'd recommend it, to be honest. It makes you appreciate how good Ill Met is, though.
I'm really liking this one, so I'll probably try Swords Against Death, too, but thanks for the head's up.

Finished Insomnia by Stephen King last night. A big strange two paced novel, the first half slow and easy about insomnia and abortion (?!), the second half plot heavy and supernatural and zipping along to its conclusion.

Now for the grand finale, Dark Tower 7.

I just started Neverness by David Zindell. I'm only 10 pages or so in, but it seems pretty cool.

Ha! And I got a used hardback copy of The Wild on amazon for the sweet low price of 12 bucks, so now I'm committed.

I hope you have The Broken God too, not only the connection between the two but, undoubtedly, the best book in the series.

I'll get that soon; The Wild seems to be harder to find. Used paperbacks start at $16 on amazon, and new ones are $27, so I felt lucky to see a hardback for less.

Yeah, 16 bucks seems steep for a used mass market paperback.... 8O

I'm currently reading "The Good Fairies of New York" by Martin Millar. It's entertaining.

Just finished Brian Ruckley's Bloodheir.

Ruckley fans will be pleased to learn that the author delivers once again in this second volume of The Godless World trilogy. Hence, if you enjoyed Winterbirth, chances are that you won't be disappointed by Bloodheir. By the same token, if you were put off by the first volume, its successor follows the various storylines with the same style and tone. Thus, it is unlikely that such readers will fancy Ruckley's latest.

As the middle book in a trilogy, Bloodheir serves to fill the gap between Winterbirth and the final installment. As such, there isn't much in terms of resolution. Nonetheless, the storylines progress nicely, and after a few twist and turns this novel sets the stage for what should be an excellent finale.

Bloodheir is a worthy sequel to Winterbirth and a very good read in its own right. Without the shadow of a doubt, it should be one of the fantasy books to read in 2008.

Check the blog for the full review! :)

I'm nearly at the end of Meiville's The Scar and I'm so damned mad I didn't read it before Pantheon 2! It's got some wonderful ideas that a god of the seas coud've used!

Five pounds of flax. StoneMaybe is right...they're mind-warping. Sift the wheat from the chaff and there's some very interesting ideas...I wouldn't be surprised if Hyperception liked them, (assuming he hasn't read them already.)

Anyway, I'm reading Brass Man by Neal Asher...sadly I haven't read the two previous books whose storylines are interwoven here.
