I thought maybe it was from switching shampoos, but I also had a swollen lymph node. Then the rash started to spread. And burn. And then a friend mentioned she'd been diagnosed with shingles. 8O So I looked it up on WebMD, and went to the doc this morning. Sure enough, that's what I've got too. Aieee.

It does, however, explain why I was so cranky at work yesterday. I thought I was being a whinypants over my head hurting. But I had a good reason for being a whinypants, after all!
Hi Ali, I wish you a swift end to your rashy discomfort. No fun at all and I too speak from experience, not shingles experience but the delightful rash family. We're vulnerable when the immune system is compromised, so not surprised it got you on the tail end of the cold. Try and keep your stress levels under control if you can. I'm sure the Doc's already told you that and or you've done your own research. Good luck and get well soon.

I feel fine today because it's the weekend and weekend's are good. I made Ussusimiel and rosemary soup and it was very nice. Now I am reading a book.

Get better soon Ali!

I had an interesting day. I agreed to yet again accompany Julie to the annual Walmart.com holiday party which was tonight. The theme was seventies so I went out shopping. I started at this great store called PKOK and found this amazing pair of multicolor zigzagged woven bell bottoms and they actually looked HAWT on me. That sent me on an adventure of trying to find the perfect top and accessories. I was shopping for about 5 hours. I got home, got ready with a fabulous seventies flip hairdo circa Saturday Night Fever and gussied up with gold eye shadow and heavy long beaded necklace and brown leather square toed boots. We got to the party and I got several compliments on my outfit from other attendees as we walked in. We socialized, we danced and hung out and then there was the moment of affirmation that I looked damn good in my outfit. Apparently the 49ers were staying at the Marriott in Burlinggame where the party took place. I had gone out to smoke and came walking back in and there was a bunch of extra security, a group of coach type guys talking animatedly in a group and another separate group of extremely large burly guys with not much neck standing off to the side conversing. As I walked towards the escalator, two of the burly guys made eye contact and smiled and as I got even with the group their conversation stopped and I could see them all turn and look at me out of the corner of my eye. Yes, I got my booty checked out by 49ers. Too bad I'm not a football fan or I might have recognized them. Granted, they could have been wondering what I was doing dressed like that in a secured area of the hotel but then later when I went for another smoke a different group was milling around and one guy flirted with me, he told me to smile and so I laughed and he said I had a gorgeous smile and I told him that I couldn't help smiling since I was on my way back to a seventies disco party. He then told me I had it going on. Actually he said, "And you gots it going on baby girl." Too funny.

ali- I'm sorry. shingles sounds awful. :(
If stress has a really significant impact on this one, (I think I heard that; you probably have more reliable information) then this gives you extra reason to relax & be nice to yourself right now!
(As an investment, right?)

Hahah, sounds like you had fun! I'm not sure I even know what a fabulous seventies flip hairdo looks like. You got a picture of yourself, right?

As for me, my four-year-old is sick, so I'm having a lazy morning at home.
Maybe I'll feeling sorry for myself in a few hours cause I'm such a social animal, but for now I feel pretty content.
My little secret: when my kiddo is or I am sick enough to have to slow down, I sometimes actually enjoy it, because it makes me sit around and read with him (and do crafts, which I usu. avoid) a lot.
Of course, this is probably because getting -that- sick is pretty rare for me or the kids.

Here you go, Linna:

It's kind of a unisex cut, obviously...

Feeling a little better, maybe. I basically slept all day. And Linna, you're exactly right -- the doc figured I was run down enough from the cold that the virus was able to come out of dormancy and start this crap. :(

I was maybe going to try to go in to work tomorrow afternoon, after my follow-up doctor appointment, but I'm thinking I might just take the whole day off, after all.

Yay for those having great days. Hugs for those who aren't. I had a rough one myself. I GAVE Kin and Derek the Moscone Center conference schedule and yet they still scheduled me as the only MOD as well as the only copy and print person for closing on a major convention night. I had a lot of pissed off customers. I was trying to knock back my huge cpd line all night while having to answer all manager calls to the register and get crap out of lockup and then closing down by myself. I barely walked the store. If the recovery was bad, I honestly don't have the energy left to care much. I had customers walking out because they didn't want to wait in line for me while I was running around like a beheaded chicken. GRRRR. I left a note on the desk expressing my unhappiness with the situation. I bet we get a bad review from this debacle.

Idiots. It's their own fault, Jenn.

I'm feeling better, yay! I counted my pain pills this morning and realized I only had enough left for two nights, if I took them at the 3-per rate. So I decided to go cold turkey this morning. So far, so good -- only an occasional twinge. So I should definitely be ready to go back to work Thursday, assuming I'm all nice and scabby by then. 8)

Which is good because I watched the last of the bootleg "Merlin" episodes Batty gave us this morning. I predict I'll be stir-crazy by tomorrow... 8O

Wow, I am having another day of emotional highs... and likely to be having extreme emotions. Right now I'm realllllly excited because I just scheduled tutoring sessions with THREE new students, (two + one regular have already confirmed back) and I just got mail from TWO MORE new potential students! (and I suspect one of 'em is gonna want a BUNCH of hours each week.)

(this was after my tutoring had a slump and some small setbacks, due to me avoiding dealing with a couple failures/problems I had in my work.)

I agree he's cuter, based on those two pictures... but in an androgynous sort of way. (at least just based on that picture)

You guys are silly. Yes, David Cassidy is cuter but my hair was more Farrah than Cassidy.

I'm exhausted. I worked an extra half an hour over today to catch Caitlin up on stuff that I needed her to finish. I also got Kin to change Noe's schedule to extend his hours tomorrow because guess what folks... MACWORLD convention is starting tomorrow and I'm already getting a lot of orders for it. I had done twice my goal for today by 2pm so it looks like it's going to be another off the hook week for me. It's a good thing. Last week had a few slow days that we didn't even make goal although the big monster sale made up for more than the lack.

It's gonna be a rough week in the worlds of Sorus and myself.
