Loremaster and Avatar have my sympathies. Sounds like you're both having a rough time.

My woes are far more mundane. I feel emotionally confused. This stuff never stops happening, does it?

No. No, it doesn't. <sigh>

Av, my thoughts are with you, Mel, and your uncle's family.

Lore -- get better!

Things are pretty good here. Our firm is doing Staff Appreciation Day stuff today (instead of last week -- but what the hell, it's a Hallmark holiday anyhow, who cares when we celebrate it?). I got flowers and a nice card from my attorneys. The firm is on a "green" kick, so we got personalized travel mugs from the partners (made in China, of course! ) and we get a party this afternoon.

Thanks, everyone. I'm still very ill. I will be seeing a doctor tomorrow, but I will be taking the rest of the week off work.

Geez, I hate that, Av...I know you'll pull through, as always.

Lore, get better. This is coming from someone who knows what rock bottom feels like, physically.

I've had a head cold for over a week and also a chest infection (or something)...but so...EVERY BLOODY DAY I cough out my lungs first thing in the morning, blow my nose a gazillion times and by midday I have a splitting headache from hell...which I can't get rid of no matter what I take.

I'm OVER it!

But HEY...in case you've all forgotten: I'M COMIN' TO THE US! 6 weeks (ish) to go!

I am dog-tired today. I did not intend to stay up late last night to finish the vacation scrapbook, but...then...I did. Until almost 2am. Like a dork. Caffeine is the only thing keeping my eyes open right now. Gotta get some sleep tonight!

That's rough, Sgt. Especially on your birthday. Hope Julie is feeling better.

I took the day off to deal with the DMV and various other issues I have not been able to deal with on the weekend... ended up finishing earlier than I expected.

Yikes Sarge! Hope she's feeling better soon.

I got one shelf finished in my apartment and another partially done last night so I feel good. Tonight I'll finish the second one and load some crap on the first one. :P

I feel ill-just got the estimate for tiling and installing the heatmesh (electric radiant heat) in the garage that's becoming an office. :faint: We can, barely, make overall budget without breaking, barring any other unforseen problems...**teeth chatter**

hope everyone is feeling better!

I'm really mad, I have to go sing at a stupid concert, that I have no interest in going to. There are several things I'd rather be doing today. I'd rather be going to Karate, I'd rather be spending four hours in a car to go see my high school's production of Aida, I'd rather be doing homework, I'd rather be studying for finals.

That is all.

Ouch. But it's deductible. Deductible: a beautiful word.

I feel grateful and more than a little amazed. The Veteran's Administration has granted me an eensy bit of compensation (tinnitus from blowing up a lot of stuff in an ordnance battalion), and even more importantly, medical coverage. Those Veteran's Services people really went to bat for me, bless 'em. They penetrated the bureaucracy on my behalf! I could never had done it by myself. Those people are champs.

Health care in the US is a huge problem so this is a big weight off my mind. Thank you, Veteran's Services! :R

I feel a little tired, and expecting myself to be nervous. But it's an amazingly good sign that I'm not at all. Tomorrow is the opening day for Iron Man at the theater, and the beginning of a LONG summer with plenty of megahits coming out, not the least of which: Indiana Jones, Narnia, Speed Racer, Hulk, Get Smart, Wall-e, Hancock, Hellboy II, Dark Knight and the Pineapple Express.

8O

But, strangely, I feel no nerves of butterflys in my stomach. I think I'm finaly used to working in the real world and, particularly, at the theater. It's actually going to probably be a lot of fun.
:D

Time for sleep to wake up at the asscrack of dawn tomorrow.

Only good dreams everyone!

I feel like banging my head on my desk. I knew I should not have gotten out of bed this morning. Day before yesterday, customer comes in and says "Ever since you did the service B on my mercedes, the air conditioning hasn't worked." We don't do anything to the air conditioning in a service B except turn it on and see if the air is blowing cold. Obviously it was working or my tech would have noticed and marked it on the checklist and we would have offered him diagnostics. Anyway, Igor looks at the car and says, "Look, the display is all shorted out. Let me plug into the diagnostic computer and see what is up with that." He plugs in and gets about nine different fault codes one of which occurred several times. There are two main problems with the system. The control box is shorting out and the system is overcharged. The overcharging indicates very strongly that someone else worked on the system but I let that go. I call the customer and tell him that the control box is shorting out and he says, "Oh the display? It's been doing that since I bought the car but it always blew cold air before so whatever you did to it can't be that." I again reiterate that we did not perform ANY work on the air conditioning system in his car. He again insists that he knows it must be related to something we did during the service because it was not working just after he left the shop. I point out that we serviced the car over two months ago and this is the first I have heard of this. He counters with telling me he was busy so he didn't have time to call or anything. Anyway, I calmly explain to him one more time that he obviously knows there was a short in the control because of the display malfunctions and that there are further shorts in the control unit because we got a whole slew of unrelated codes. He finally sees the friggin light. We agree on pricing and I order the parts. We replace the control unit with a used one and then evacuate the system to get the frion back to the proper level. Everything is working perfect. I test drove the car. No problems. He picked up the car last night and then he was in my driveway when I got to work this morning. There's a weird clunk and the car won't go over ten miles per hour. He says it is my fault and that it must be related to the work we did on the air conditioning. I put it on the rack. Something let go internally in the transmission. You can hear it clunking just inside the transmission pan. He tells me it MUST be related to the work we did on the air conditioning system. I explain to him that they are totally unrelated systems and that I have never done any work on his transmission nor would I because the C43 series has a sealed non serviced transmission. I also explain to him that the work I did on the air conditioning was both inside the cab of his car and in the upper compartment of the engine and the transmission is underneath the car. He doesn't want to listen. He keeps insisting it's my fault. I ended up giving him the number of a good transmission shop and the California Bureau of Automotive Repair. I tell him he is welcome to call them and discuss this with them. I hated every minute he was here in my office because I know he's the kind of guy who is now going to go on every internet review site and trash my shop but I am NOT responsible for his transmission coming apart internally. The car has over 90K on it. I never did any work that was in any way related to the transmission. Forget it. Ugh. I knew I should not have gotten out of bed this morning. Moose tried to tell me. I got his sweater ready and he took one look at me and dove under his blanket. I left him home. Smart dog.... :?

Wow, that really was a bad news customer, CJ. At least you have proof that he waited two months to say anythong about his AC. I mean, if he tries anything beyond griping online.

I'm happy because I found my copy of WGW. I turned the house upside down, but I didn't see it right on the shelf because I was scanning for the original gold cover, not the later edition version. At least I didn't cave and buy another copy... I've only owned half a dozen over the years. :P

Ouch. After eight years in customer service, I can safely say that there are people that only exist to give other people grief.
