So um....

Av man: you've kinda been having a string of bad luck (or should one just say a string of "things"). But, heh, I kinda figure that if there's a guy who could cope and deal with it in a graceful way then it would be you so... hope you know what I'm getting at. :)

Me: I'm feeling 100% better now. No more lurgy. My US trip which is now SOOOOO close. Kinda filled with nervous apprehension and a degree of excitement that makes me giddy (or is that just the drink ;)). Can't believe I'm doing it. Glad I am.

I'm in the mood to send out a request for healing thoughts.

I know I mentioned in passing my sister was having a kidney biopsy. I wasn't too concerned, as she has always been overly concerned with this and that regarding her health.

But...results weren't due back for another three weeks, if all was fine. She received her results this morning. Something called very early stage Membranous Glomerulonephritis.

If there is one thing my sister is good at, it is researching medical conditions, heh. So, prognosis for the kidney is an even split, i.e. 1/3, 1/3, 1/3. 1/3 regress, 1/3 stay the same, and 1/3 go on to kidney failure.

As for possible reasons for this happening...
The doctor said it can be either primary or secondary, they don't know yet. It could be caused by Hepatitis or cancer, so they need to schedule a hepatitis test and are faxing the results to my oncologist. As far as the cancer, the symptoms can occur before the tumor.
...her oncologist...

She's never had cancer, just a hyper-concern regarding it because of Mommy's early death from breast cancer.

*sigh*

I'm feeling pretty good today. Hugs to all of those having crappy moments and wishes of health to Menolly's sis. It is busy at work. Seafest is getting close. My eye feels fine. Life is pretty good. Av, sorry about the death, that really sucks and not to make fun or anything but I am seriously trying to wrap my head around you having a live in domestic staff. Not just a nanny or something. An entire staff. Do you have a butler? and a maid? and a cook? and a groundskeeper? and a chauffeur? 8O
Now if I could just find a way to wear live bees as jewelry all the time.....

Menolly -- best of luck to your sister.

Good luck with sending that e-mail, Lore.

I received some good news this morning. The Washington Post's travel section has a monthly feature called "Your Vacation in Lights" -- readers are asked to submit a sort of report on their vacation and the Post prints the best one. I sent in one about my vacation to Spain, and I found out this morning that they're going to publish it this Sunday. No money, but the monthly winners get a shot at winning a digital camera at the end of the year.

I'll post a link when they publish it.

congrats ali and happy vibes your way, menolly.

I'm feeling anxious. In about an hour's time I'll be playing football. (that's soccer to most of you). So what? Well, I haven't played energetic sport for 20 years, and for all but the last year of those twenty, I've been a heavy smoker.

Why oh why did I ever agree to this? :?

Not quite. And they're not my staff, they're my late uncles. There's a maid, Sylvia, (whose son just passed away), a gardener, Ephraim, (Ephraim Zulu as it happens, making him a descendant of the original Nguni family clan whose Chief founded the Zulu Empire in the early-mid 1800's here) and Jane, who works either in the grounds or in the house, depending on the workload and where she's needed.

*shrug* Understand its a huge place. Christmas holidays here it wasn't unusual to have up to 20 family and friends actually living on the property for a couple of weeks. 12 bedrooms spread over the place, not counting makeshift ones. And 2 Kitchens. (3 if you count the restuarant.)

The staff I mentioned don't cover the staff of the Nursery that's also on the property, or the resturant here (when it was running).

But we do all the cooking and driving ourselves. ;) I'll just have to survive 'til the end of the year... :LOLS:

Good luck to them as needs it, including me, and congrats to them as deserves it.

Yes on both counts. The estate will cover my rent until I go back, so I don't lose anything really.

I realize it's your late Uncle's estate but you must know by now that my brain works in really odd ways so it made me picture you sitting in this massive library room at an ornate desk in a huge leather chair with a laptop and posting in the tank while wearing a dark purple velvet smoking jacket and saying, "Jeeves, could you bring me some tea and then in about half an hour please run me a bath." The picture was so incompatible with your watch persona that I had trouble trying to get the smoking while hiking up a mountain rough and tumble Avatar to come to terms with the estate living Avatar in my head. 8O ;)
