I don't think I could afford you, Sarge, and come to think of it I don't go anywhere where I could wear all that gold and silver. Don't wear pyjamas either - theyre too hot.

Mya (helldog) sprained her tail. Her little curly tail is straight and her ears are back. She is miserable. She can't find a way to get comfortable. So we both have back pain. I gave her a baby aspirin and I took a muscle relaxer and we went for a light walk. Two old ladies shuffling along. :?

It has been a really crazy winter. We had one huge snowfall in mid october that wreaked havoc because the leaves were still on the trees, then nothing. WARM. So all the flowers are confused. My daffodils popped up in the beginning of February and they are pathetic. Poor things don't know what to do with themselves.

Poor Helldog. :(

I was at the vet with a sick cat all day yesterday. She seems better today but won't know much until the lab results come back Tues. One of my bobkittens, and I'm supposed to be giving her pills, which is going about as well as one might expect. I knew these cats were gonna be a problem as they started to get older, but they are my responsibility for better or for worse.

Oh, a change is coming, feel these doors now closing
Is there no world for tomorrow, if we wait for today?

Today I have to go to a funeral. I hadn't known Angela long, only two or three years, but she was a lovely bubbly lady, only 61. She died of cancer on the 9th March. She was one of my volunteers and was enjoying what she did so much. Rest in Peace Angela.

There is nothing so certain as death, and nothing so uncertain as the time thereof!

The funeral went well. It is difficult to find an adjective describing a good funeral! The coffin was brought in to " Nights in White Satin" by the Moodies. It was in an old Methodist chapel and we sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Jerusalem" as Angela had been in the Women's Institute.

Her sister presented a very good eulogy which included this poem, and I can remember Angela talking about "wearing purple" last October.

Warning - When I Am an Old Woman I Shall Wear Purple

By Jenny Joseph

When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple
with a red hat that doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
and satin candles, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I am tired
and gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
and run my stick along the public railings
and make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
and pick the flowers in other people's gardens
and learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
and eat three pounds of sausages at a go
or only bread and pickles for a week
and hoard pens and pencils and beer nuts and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
and pay our rent and not swear in the street
and set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.
But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

Sadly Angela never got the chance to wear purple, but I intend to, and I'm going to have "Who Wants to Live Forever" by Queen played at my funeral, at the beginning so that everyone will have to sit and listen to it!

Good plan, Iolanthe. :) I've always said that 50 is great -- because after that, you can be eccentric, instead of just weird. ;)

Hey Jenn -- while I was sitting at the optometrist's today, waiting for the tech to finish writing my order (I'm getting myself a pair of reading glasses with a LivingSocial coupon), the song you guys used for the FBH theme came on the Muzak, and I thought of you. :) Hope your mouth is better today...

Huggles, get well vibes, be well vibes, and all that to those who want/need them! :D I got lotsa love for everyone today! :D

I've just been out the back watching this...um...*swarm* of dragonflies going bananas in the vacant block next door to us. Dragonflies are my favorite! :D I have absolutely no idea why they were there but I've never seen so many in one spot in my entire life. Spectacular!

Kind of a highlight to an otherwise dumb day. I've been cleaning the house for nearly 5 hours. I'm so *jack* of cleaning! I don't think it would be so bad if we had a slightly larger house. We live in a small beach house. Lovely and all that jazz, but small and not enough storage. Mostly I spent my time picking up after Mr Seareach and SoS, shoving sh*t here and there. I'd be happier, I think, if I didn't have to (for example) spend five minutes dragging crap out of the storage cupboard we have to find the vacuum cleaner. And it would probably be better if my boys actually learned to pick up/clean up after themselves. This "pull out and then drop wherever you finish with it" attitude sucks!

Relative to other people's worries, I got nothing to complain about (but thanks for listening :)).

Always loved that poem. The GF claims that when she is old she will have a walking stick to poke people with. :D

Bad night. Up since 3:30am. I need to find the closest Used Body Lot and trade this body for a newer model.

I forgot to mention that the organist, whilst waiting for the family to arrive, played Linden Lea :D

Happy spring, Northern Hemisphereans! And happy autumn to you southerners, too!

I got the new book up on Amazon overnight. This is the place: www.amazon.com/Seized-Pipe-Woman-Chroni ... 007MGRCBU/

It'll also be available at a bunch of Amazon's European sites presently, I guess....

Congratulations, Aliantha. I love the cover. Wish there was a way to read it on paper - I spend far too much time staring at a screen already, and don't have a kindle. :(

I did a paperback edition of the last book, but I think I only sold one or two copies. I will probably do one for this book, too. Maybe I'll work on the formatting this weekend. :)

And yeah, isn't the cover awesome?
