I go systematically through most of the forums, but I have the luxury of plenty of time. (And I still skip a few except for rare occaisons, but this isn't one of them.)

Okay guys. I have posted an announcement and have posted the Anthology III submission guide. The new deadline is 8-6-07. Let me know if any of you want something added, changed or deleted. FYI I'd like to see some inside art included this year. The artwork I've found in "Children of Hurin" is pretty cool and something of it's ilk could be included as images in the text of the next Anthology. Just a thought.

Tom, wouldn't that change the price that Lulu charges by quite a bit?

I've used images imbeded in my story docuemtns/pdfs when I was trying to publish with cafepress. It didn't change the price because it was based on page count. An image that is inserted into a word document will likely add to the overall file size but shouldn't present any issue during the printing process. I can check to see if a LULU publication is affected by file size or the overall size of the information. I seem to remember working this out before we started Anthology II because I wanted dAN to submit a graphic novel.

I'm pretty sure if you do that they will be in black and white... colour pictures will definitely put the price up.

Most illustrated novels only have B/W pictures so that would be just fine.

I pretty much always work in black & white.

Okay guys. We're getting close to setting up for the submission team and such. I'll post something in the next week announcing a request for volunteers. Time really flies. I've still only barely begun writing my story. :-(

Just for the record: I began Braddock Pines 2 today.

Going to try to finish it during July. Expect a more whimsical, comic yarn than the first one. It's the Sanjuro to Yojimbo.

If we submit something to the email address for review for the anthology, do we get a conformation email that it was received? I sent in something about a week ago, and didnt get any confirmation. My email server is acting up, so I dont know if it was received...

There's no selection team yet, so there might not be anyone checking the account.

iQuestor, your poems did arrive.

And Murrin is right, there isn't anyone checking the account right now. If you want a response to a submission, you'll want to announce it here.

Okay. We've waited long enough. We're receiving submissions and nobody's home. I've posted an announcement to begin assembling the committee. We need 3 brave souls.

I assume Joy will be editing this year but I don't want to speak for her. No pressure Dragonlilly. :-)

I'm editing like mad to get ready for the opening of Calderwood Books in late September. What's a little more editing? ;)

As I've warned you, I can't do it in seven weeks like I did last year.

I asked this elsewhere, but my 12 year old would like to submit something. I told her I would ask. I just don't want her to get her heart broken if her story isn't picked. Should I allow her to submit something and if she does could someone please help give ideas for improvement if she is chosen or not?

Sorry SQ. I remember seeing your post but never responded. Frankly I didn't know how to respond. From what I've seen from the submission committee I believe they will select the best stories without bias but they also have been very good about offering constructive criticism and suggestions.
I myself was rejected last time out. It can be pretty painful so I guess you'll have to judge for yourself what your child can handle. My then 14 year old wanted to submit a story for the first Anthology and I encouraged her to do so. She of course never finished her story so the final outcome was avoided. I guess it all depends on the child.

Will the deadline we've established in August be enough time get things published by December?

It all depends on the stories, Tom. And the committee. And the authors. And like that.
