I found Season 1 on DVD at Walmart y'day for $25 and bought it. Every season is on "very long wait" at Blockbuster Online and I've given up on ever renting any of them.

That's fascinating tat they're still tied up on queue.
FWIW, the USA network is going to start showing reruns.

I have today discovered this show, and added it to the list of shows that I can watch either with the sound on or off.
I have decided I like this show based on one reason, and one reason only.

I think I might go back to TIVOing the L Word and watching it muted, too.

Is that season 5, or 6?
Did I actually manage to catch up?

We're in season 5 now, so yes, you're caught up to last September. You're missing 11 episodes so far, which resolve the cliffhanger in a most.......interesting way.
I've got them DVR'ed, but it's a bit of a hike for you to come over and watch them....

Heh, just a little.
Must... avoid... spoilers...
I'm not gonna read the rest of the thread for fear of seeing something I shouldn't, but you folks that watch with the sound off - you're missing some of the best dialogue I've heard on a TV show in a long time.
Okay, the only other show I watch these days is BSG, which also has good dialogue... but still.
You're missing out.

I'll spoiler tag anything for this season.
Yeah, the dialog on NCIS reminds me a lot of Moonlighting. It's really snappy.

Awesome - thanks! I need to catch up though, no point in sharing all my weird theories if everyone already knows they're wrong.

OK, saw the finale last night (finally!).
Couple of things.....
I was never really sure what Jenny's purpose on the show was, but she had a great exit.
The team getting split up seemed very X-Files. Hopefully they'll do something different with it. It's a no-brainer that the team will be intact after a couple of episodes.
I'd really like to see a 2 (or 4) hour special about what Gibbs and Jenny did in Europe 10 years ago (sort of like what BSG did with "Razor"). That looks like a fascinating story.
Altogether, I liked this truncated season much better than last season. I thought there were some fantastic hours of television done. I think all the post-strike episodes were simply fantastic.
