Two more questions

Remembering Covenant's tale of a murdered Waynhim, Prothall sent two Bloodguard, Korik and Terrel (who warded Lord Mhoram), into the Waymeet.
:
"It is simple," the Giant whispered. "After scattering the wolves, Korik and Terrel will lead a trail away from ours. They will go straight into Andelain, east toward Mount Thunder, until pursuit has been confused. Then they will turn and rejoin us."

So there is precident that Terrel need not stay at Mhoram's side at all times, even when there is considerable danger. In LFB, he was sent away for many days into Andelain while Lord Mhoram rode south with the rest of the Quest.

I would say it is possible that Mhoram might have sent Terrel on some sort of errand, and the ur-viles struck while Terrel was away. The Bloodguard with me were slain. Mhoram was alone when he encountered samadhi. But it need not be that other Bloodguard, not with Mhoram at the time, were not also on the quest.

"But I have learned more. There near Foul's Creche, I was beaten-badly overmastered. I fled through the Shattered Hills with only the staff of Variol my father between me and death, and could not prevent my foe from laying hands upon me. I had thought that I was in battle with a supreme loremaster of the ur-viles. But I learned- I learned otherwise."

It sounds like things got pretty hairy there. Perhaps Terrel was trying to lead the ur-viles away from Mhoram at some point. Or had been on some other scouting task.

Always nice to see a good TC thread like this one revisited!

In re-reading past posts, I was almost persuaded that Terrel's absence from Mhoram's side could only be explained as a continuity flaw. But Wayfriend's post above has "rescued" the matter for me. The situation in TIW was not unique. Terrel had left Mhoram's side before to undertake other assignments.

Thank you Wayfriend. As I said earlier in this thread, the possibility of an actual continuity error was too horrible to consider.
