Two quick little things to think about for the future of the Land and the story....

- the flowery field where Linden and Thomas meet as children in Chron2..

- two thousand haruchai challenged Lord Kevin, and five hundred became the Bloodguard. That Insequent had defeated five hundred of them, beforehand. Coincidence??

PS Everytime i read the word Liand I think it says - Linden .. it confuses my eyes and shakes my momentum....

Since the Island of the One Tree and easy access to the Worm of the World's End sank beneath the waves at the end of TOT, I'm wondering how they're going to get at it this time.

Hopefully, SRD will think of a fresh angle, but since there are Giants in the Land again, I'm deathly afraid that it's going to involve another interminable and mindnumbingly tedious sea voyage, ala TOT.

I love the Giants, but I don't think I can take another marathon cruise aboard one of their dromonds.

... and Stave would be the Captain.

But seriously... why would the One Tree be involved again?

I think, when the Worm of the World's End wakes up, it wakes up everywhere, if you see what I mean.

Or do you think that TC and Linden would need to go there to derouse it?

I don't think it has anything further to do with the One Tree. I'm just saying that the Worm is awakening, and the Giants are back, and I fear we're in for another 500 page sea voyage that I'd rather not take.

Especially if it turns out to be as immediately fruitless as the last one.

Derouse?

That's an interesting observation. Those that were defeated by the Insequent were those chosen from among the 2000 to serve Kevin. Mayhap.

How long after their encounter with the Insequent did they encounter Kevin? I don't remember if there was any mention of that in the story. Maybe it happened too long after for any of the Haruchai who met the Insequent to still be living when the Haruchai met Kevin. But a connection of some kind seems likely.

Same here. It's irksome.

Immediately after the One Tree sank, Findail said words to the effect of "the Tree isn't destroyed; it just went back into hiding. Don't worry about it." It's still accessable (somehow, somewhere...) And I agreee completely about loving the Giants, but NOT looking foward to another sea voyage. P.S.: "Asshole Leper Hero" ?!?!?!?! OMG !!!!!

One thought - We've had several crossovers into The Land from Earth... what if by the end of AATE, LF has found a way to make a trip into our world? What if all the subterfuge and baiting of LA has been to get her to destroy the Arch right at the moment when he slips away out of reach into our world. Imagine - the Land gone, LA standing amongst the ruins of creation, and realizing that she missed her target...

I can see Lord Foul standing in Times Square bellowing his scorn and derision at our world while taxi drivers are swerving past shaking their fists and cursing at him like he's just another crazy.

Here's another thought: If TC remains flesh and blood for the remainder of the story, will he then be able to return to our world and live happily ever after with LA? (Assuming she can survive her gunshot wound.)

I don't think TC can go back.

For one, the rule is, if you're dead in the real world, you don't go back. It doesn't matter what you are in the Land.

For the other, my opinion is that Donaldson doesn't write stories where people don't have to pay for their sacrifices. Covenant forewent returning to the real world so he could save the Land; the meaning of that sacrifice should not be undone.

Of course... I'm certain to be wrong.

No, no, you're right. I wasn't thinking it through. TC's body has been in the ground for ten long years in our world.

Even SRD wouldn't mess with that, even if he could think of a way of writing around it.

Or would he? :gulp:

But what if TC went back to the world from High Lord Kevin's time? What if the Arch of Time is broken, TC released or "un-melded" and able to choose when he returns (presumably when there is a body waiting for him).

The rule you refer to WF was almost certainly "bent" by the creator in earlier chronicles.

Since I'm pretty sure TC is the Creator he can bend the rules the way he wants. He'll take Roger's body since the spirit of his son gets destroyed in the final battle.

That's an interesting thought. It ties in with the concept of possession. And Donaldson did go to some length to say how much Roger resembled his father.

Of course, it depends on Roger not being shot dead in the real world.

The Creator has already saved a potentially dead Covenant at the end of the first chronicles. Why shouldn't Covenant be able to pull that trick again? He'll probably also save Linden.

Just imagine the reborn Roger/TC telling Linden with a Yoda voice: "My father I am."
