I've been thinking about it, and I'm wondering if the club screwed up too. I'm kicking myself that I didn't talk to the bouncer about their reappearance in other shows. Oh well, if you go to the show near you Cag, you'll need to report on whether they do the after show gig...

two weeks to go til my show, i'm getting VERY excited! unfortunately as it's a festival and they're normally very strict about time slot, we won't get more than a song or two encore.

Have you got End Times yet Stone? It's actually one of their better albums in recent times in my opinion.

Yeah I bought the 3 I didn't have a few weeks ago. End Times is definitely my favourite of the 3 new ones.

I've heard about the Eels but never heard their music. The link you posted says its set to private, but I'll do more searches and see if I can hear them.
This must be a different band. The group I'm familiar with was mid 70's New York punk.

Hmmm, maybe it's an Australian link - sometimes I can't get other links because of the zone, or something...
Eels did the music to the Shrek movies. My beloved monster etc...
Last Stop: This Town is always a good one when introducing Eels.

I lied. I like Hombre Lobo better than End Times.
or maybe that was the mood I was in this evening.

Well, the Eels are very mood driven!
I just bought Tomorrow Morning today. Have listened to about half of it, and like all Eels ablums, I'm going to have to listen to it more to decide whether I like it or not...

Just checking out tomorrow morning at their website.
What type of mix have they done at recent gigs? Am i gonna be disappointed waiting for mr e's beautiful blues and novocaine and last stop?
edit: though i'll be happy with prizefighter!

At the gig I went to, they did a couple of Tomorrow Morning songs. A few oldies - some good interpretations of some oldies!
Mr E's was played, not Last Stop. Nine studio albums now, so there'll be songs that you want to hear, but aren't played. I was hoping for a few that didn't make it....
All in all, it was a good mix, IMO.

well, i've seen them now. i wasn't disappointed but i will not wax lyrical either!
However, i DO have a new favourite song, bizarrely it is on the 'bonus' disk that i got with the 'deluxe' version of tomorrow morning.
It's called 'Let's Ruin Julie's Birthday'. It's not even on youtube or anything so i can't post a link. But it is SO good! It's overtaken Gomez's Nothing is Wrong as the perfect popsong, imo!

It's pretty cool - I've listened to the bonus disc a couple of times. I was intrigued by the song titles: Let's Ruin Julie's Birthday is an interesting title - but pretty much what the song is about!

I still haven't got this album yet. I was going to order from their online store, but at the last minute found out Best Buy would have the two-disc version since everywhere else has the one disc. When I was finally able to get over to Best Buy, they had their heads up their butts, and no new Eels on the shelf. I asked about it, and they mumbled something I couldn't hear (as their heads were up the butts), but it sounded like, "come back next week." As it was already about a week after the release date, I figured them for useless and ordered the damn CD online. I tried to do the free download, but it would get to 99% and stop. So I gave up on that, and am waiting for the store to deliver it. It is now past time for me to receive it. I'm wondering if I will ever get to hear this album.

Wow, that's a quick follow-up!
OK, now I just
know you're all eagerly awaiting the next song to listen to

so here goes:
Grace Kelly Blues is the 1st track on their
Daisies of the Galaxy album. I was hooked the first time I heard it, and the album is probably the easiest to listen to. Some music critic or other likened the album to "a nice walk in the park, where you're occasionally bitten by a snake."
I couldn't find an Eels clip to this, so please ignore the visuals on the link, listen to the music (and the lyrics are great too)!
Grace Kelly Blues
Wow, this thread is going so well, I just
have to post another song

(just joking, I'm happy to amuse myself here!)
I like Birds from
Daisies of the Galaxy.
I like a girl with a dirty mouth
Someone that I can believe...
Dirty Girl
I love this song!
I enjoyed all those selections!

My word, Cord, you've had a musical binge!
Sadly, I have found most of the latest Eels stuff pretty boring, so I'm nowhere near as enthusiastic as I used to be about them. But I still love some of the old stuff!
