One might claim there has been a Hawkeye movie, but I contend that the '70s flick (Donald Sutherland & Elliot Gould) of M*A*S*H does not count.

If there's ever a Hawkeye movie, it needs to be an action comedy based on Matt Fraction's work. With somebody who's not Jeremy Renner in the lead role.

Probably the same reason that there hasn't been a Wonder Woman movie--no one wants to appear to make a mistake in writing a strong female superhero protagonist. Come on, studios, you greenlighted both Elektra and Catwoman, for pity's sake, and they were both disasters so why not get a better screenwriter and director and make a high-quality Black Widow or Wonder Woman movie, hm?

That guy who is in Arrow (I don't recall his name right now) on CW seems like he could do a good job at it but he's under a WB/DC contract so he won't be able to play a Marvel character.

I'm not familiar with Arrow - first thing that came to mind when you mentioned it was the guy from Smallville, heh. Looks like Arrow's McQueen is Stephen Amell, who I've not seen or heard of before.

with the cancellation of Dial H, the current Hawkeye series is the best comic being currently published.

Also, "rising tide" anagrams to "desiring it" so who is Sky (Skye? I don't know how they are spelling it) really working for? She probably doesn't know, herself.

Slingshot...yeah, right. They may indeed put things on a rocket but it isn't to put it out of everyone's reach; rather, it is to get it to the space station where it can be researched in a more secure location. Just because the Avengers managed to beat Loki's army doesn't mean that SHIELD has given up on Phase 2.

Whoever Skye is... I hope there are more shots of her running towards the camera soaked with water, in a low cut top. Slow motion would be a nice touch I think. You know... for art's sake.

Not seen the new episode, but just had a thought about the end of last week's:

Watched the latest episode.

That last bit before the credits: I just knew as soon as he fell in that I was watching an origin story, haha.

And I'm calling it right now: A major cast member will be killed in the line of duty, and SHIELD will bring them back, and that will be how Coulson finds out the truth.

Well, yes, I kind of figured he'd be an existing character once I saw it happening. I've just gone and looked him up on Wikipedia. Question is, if they brought him back later in this show, would the SHIELD agents actually be able to do anything about him? They're just ordinary humans, after all. You don't want to risk having someone too powerful that can only be defeated with an unlikely gimmick or by a cameo stealing the thunder (ho ho).

I don't think they need to kill any one off to reveal Coulson's condition. The guy is a) dysfunctional at different levels and b) will probably start "breaking down". In fact, if anyone was to die at the end of the season, my money would be on Agent Coulson.

The other candidate for death would be Melinda May. In Whedon shows, people tend to die because they complete a character story arc (with one notable exception). She has a very simple character arc, so it would be easy to complete ("Oh, Agent Coulson, I've come to terms with my past and can now accept my role as a soldier Agent for SHIELD! *stabbed through the back with, say, a samurai sword. Looking confused, she says something trite or regular, like "I...did I leave the oven on?" *Bleeeeh....voids bowels and dies* Agent Coulson: "QUIIIIIIIN!")

At this point, though, I do not think any major protagonist characters will die. I think they're all affordable actors.

By the way, I believe it was Ian Quin that was funding that super-soldier serum type drug in the first episode.

In this case they'd not be actually dying, but dying then coming back in order to provoke character conflict for Coulson. And who says it has to be "at this point" - they could take their time.

Three episodes in I'm beginning to warm to the show. At first I was put off by the very UN Shield feel of the team. Shield has always been an impressively competent and efficient organization who took charge and adapted to situations in a calm, confident and effective manner. This is a team of diverse characters that are in many ways unusual and at the same time a bit boring. The less the two thick accented tech support characters say and do the better. I frankly don't understand them a lot of the time. I have seen real remote helicopters similar to the one's used show perform similar motions however these are simply too glaringly CGI to believe so I'd rather they dispensed with any FX that don't work perfectly. There's no need. The gravity shifting set used in the latest episode was a really cool practical effect and sold the moment very well.

Thankfully S.H.I.E.L.D. was picked up for a full season so we'll be able to give the show a chance to develop.

Fitz's accent is on the light end of Scottish accents, really.

TOM, do you think the fact that you are a comic fanatic influences how you feel about the show? Except for Thor, which I followed as a kid for a year or two, I only know this universe through the current round of films and this show. And with only that exposure, I am enjoying it quite nicely.

I liken it to the Harry Potter films for me. I know people who adore the movies. I like them, but for me the books simply blow the movies out of the water.
