I wish people would swallow before they speak. It ruins the meal for me every time I have to stare at food packed into the yawning gap of a person I'm eating with. It seems to be acceptable now, as every damn chef on tv eats and speaks at the same time. Makes me nauseous. The worst perp is Gina Delaurentis (or whatever her name is).

I rarely notice, usually because I'm too busy stuffing my face. ;)

Absolutely with you on that Lorin. I'm so concious about the nature of eating that I rarely eat with anyone other than my wife. I don't like being watched as I eat - or watching other people. My wife has a natural ability toward almost perfect delicacy [lucky for me given the above] when eating, and never leaves so much as a mark on the glass when sipping her wine. It's a trick I've never mastered - but as I say, I tend to prefer back to the restaurant with only my wife to see in front of me.

I am somewhat of a messy eater. I also tend to eat very quickly. If I enjoy something, I can't stop until it is all gone. :D

There is something gloriously barbarian about eating with your hands, off the bone with the juices running down your chin - but it is definitely a private affair.
