I think this will make Mom very happy, Fisty.
For Myles--
When evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love

For Mom--
Did you ever know that you're my hero,
and everything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle,
for you are the wind beneath my wings.

Fly...fly high against the sky...
Thank you, thank you, thank God for you
The wind beneath my wings

If Fist is the benevolent dictator and by exclusion I am not, does that make me the enlightened and just ruler? :P

That's very true... I'll graciously allow Fist to rule as dictator for the time being (under my authority, of course - I still have Pantheon to use as leverage ;) ).

Congratulations, Fist!!
:)

Of course, if the enlightened ruler eliminates all challenges to his mode of thinking, one wonders how he will be able to remain enlightened (assuming that he is "enlightened" in the first place)...

What to do? It's a public forum. We can't expect to post the kinds of thoughts we do here, and not get opposing viewpoints. Makes no sense. OTOH, we HAVE had that very thing happen. But threads that get that kind of consideration are generally clearly for one specific viewpoint.

My new "Fist and rus" thread will help this problem as far as MY transgressions go. When I see rus contradicting himself or whatever, I'll copy and paste it to my thread, instead of polluting the thread it came from.

Others can make their own threads along similar lines if they want.

Also, feel free to define the intent of typical threads more clearly, and I'll stomp out transgressions as soon as I become aware of them.

Other ideas?

I used to own atheistchurch.com. My thinking has always been that it is not cowardly, or wrong in any way, for Christians to go to church, knowing they will not have to face opposition there. It's nice, and good, to be able to discuss your beliefs with people who share them. Opposition is a good, and necessary, part of many aspects of life, most definitely including this one. But so is the company of those we agree with. I wish we had subforums in the Close for that kind of thing.

hell, we have Christians attacking Christians in the close. being Catholic i am used to that (ever read the Jack Chick tracks?) but it is surprising to be attacked by someone who nominally agrees with you.

I am thinbking of posting a CHick thread - just not sure where. close?

Yes, the Close would be the most appropriate venue if you were to do that.

However, be aware it probably will come to a bad end...not eventually, but quite soon (at least the bad part, no promises about the end being soon.)
