Huh? I loved the book. Largely. The movie lost all of the books charm though.

i didn't. i dug the bleakness. i liked jennifer jason leigh and kathy bates.

and i LOVED judy parfitt as vera donovan!!

Only watched it once, and didn't enjoy it much, so didn't pay much attention. I think a lot of the charm of the book was in the style it was written in. The movie couldn't convey that same style, and the "flashbacks" were less effective.

i liked the ensemble cast. i liked the general look of the film.
the flashbacks worked for me.
it was really the only way to do it
considering the book is a monologue.

Exactly. The book was a monologue and you can't make a movie a monologue. Ergo...film lost the character of the book, and it was the character of the book I liked.

I loved this one. It was like expanding the first half of The Stand (the best part). But then I've always been a sucker for that post apocalyptic stuff.

Cell got me into Zombie fiction in general and I've enjoyed several since then. The best being

David Wellington's Zombie triology (1st two books great last one just fair).
