Well...i'm feeling pretty weepy just now.

We took Churchill to be put down this morning. Just couldn't watch him be miserable any longer. So, he went very very peacefully. He was bright eyed this morning, came out of the closet when the alarm went off and hopped up in bed to wake me like he used to do. He hasn't done that in months now. He ate some breakfast, which he hasn't done in a week. He was chatty but went back into the closet when he saw me get the carrier out.

Ger and i took him. As i said, he went very quietly and peacefully within less than a minute after getting the injection. No agonizing whatsoever. He just went to sleep.

So...thanks for all your well wishes, Watchers, and support while he was sick.

The up side of this is that now Raymond, who was always second fiddle, always scrawny cause Church kept him from eating as much as he wanted to eat (Church was fatso catso), and who was completely neurotic, has, in the last months since Church has been sick, gotten fatter and fatter and comes out of the closet lots more. Ray will now be king of the house. It's really remarkable how healthy and clean he has gotten as Church got sicker and sicker. (Ray was so neurotic he frequently had knots all over his fur from over grooming, which they do when they're freaked out.)
So now Ray will be king cat and there'll be lots less cat hair all over and the cost of cat food will be cut in half. *sigh*

Church was the best cat and a wonderful friend for 15 years. An era has ended in our lives.

that is all.

I'm sorry for you Luci, I know how difficult that is.

Huge hugs to everyone. Luci, Church was a handsome boy and I am sure he had a fabulous life full of love and scritches and purring with you. May he rest in peace and catnip. Extra hug for you Luci.

Sorry about the cat, Luci. I've lost more than a handful. They're wonderful pets, and I've fond memories of each.

Well, I finished the semester. Now a month of sweet nothing--and compulsive video game playing. :D

The only hardship will be spending too much cash and jogging in the cold. Then again, it's a luxury to be able to do those things. Ah, I shall enjoy times like these! Begone, real world!

|G I'm sorry to hear about Church, luci. :( It's good that he was able to go in peace.

Poor Luci! |G I know how tough it is. But it's for the best.

After we had Squeaker put to sleep last year, Pumpkin was (briefly) our only cat. He *loved* it. All the attention, all the primo sunning spots and sleeping spots -- his and his alone! If I hadn't promised Younger Daughter that she could pick out the next kitty (and if she wasn't going off to college soon), I probably wouldn't have gotten another cat. But then we'd be kitty-less right now. And Pumpkin and Morgan got on famously, until he got sick. Ah well....

I know how hard that must have been for you. I hope he and Teagan have met up and are playing together and having a grand time. :)

Not to sound too happy, but I have some good news: my migraine that started Sunday morning and was still going full strength today (2.5 days later) finally ran its course and went away this afternoon. I almost forgot what it felt like to NOT have a headache. :) Thanks to all the people who were thinking good thoughts for me. |G

Awww Luci.... |G

The sad part is his 'chirpy' behaviour before his last trip...poor kitty, I'm tearing up and I'm not even a cat person...

This is why I vowed never to own another pet. My last pet (cat) died when I was 13 - I'd had Sam since I was 4. Even my guinea pig's death left me shattered. Haven't had an animal since. Hell, I cry when I watch Discovery Channel documentaries and something bad happens to an animal...

i am pissed. our landlady, the one we are buying the house from announced that she wants the past couple months rent after all. the money we were saving for the down payment. this bitch is willing to risk the sale not going through for $1500 when we will be giving her $63,000. i can not wait until we are done and this harpy is out of our lives forever. she can't get someone to the house until tomorrow for the heat. so we have no heat tonight.
